87sheerips Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Hello, I am designing a stator cover for my CNC programming class. I have one problem, My stator cover is on he other side of the state so i have no dimentions to work from. If any one could hook me up with some dimentions, detailed pics, or some other ideas it would be a great help. Or if someone out there has a program for one, that would really put a spark under my ass!! Thanks for any input guys!! Quote
BigRed350x Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 What measurements do you need? I can send measurements / pictures for you. Quote
Polish Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Why dont you just buy one..........and then return it  Quote
BigRed350x Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 You could also borrow one from a friends bike. There has to be other banshee's around where you live. Quote

Well red, im going to get my cover this weekend, but I am designing right now. I Need measurements Like Flywheel diameter, radiuses, overall length, width, height, fastener hole locations and diameters, etc.... I might make it a three piece design but im not sure yet. Im going to make a rough design that I can modify w/ the right dimentions. Prety much any measurements are helpful cuz right now im working with a blindfold! Thanks for the responses! Quote

Hey thanks a lot RED, once I get this done ill hook you up with the program or whatever else comes out of it. Just in case you are around cnc mills or have access to one. Thanks again! Quote

Just in case you are around cnc mills or have access to one. Thanks again! I have a couple programs done for the side covers. You do realize that not all programs run on all CNC machines right? I can help you with what ever you need to get you cover done. I the toughest part is getting the mounting hole locations in the correct spot. You almost need a CMM to do that. One last question, you do realize how big of a piece of stock you need to make the cover and how much that stock costs per pound, don't you? I just thought I'd ask as I remember that I could not really afford such a thing when I was a student. :baseball_mitt: Quote

I just want the program. Milltronics is the machine we will be using. This machine accepts a text file with the program containing all of your G codes, M codes, etc.... Dude if you could hook me up with some sort of dimentions or program that would be huge. I have a 3D scanner I can use, and all sorts of programs to simulate and make a program. We use surfcam mostly. Let me know what u think would be the best route for me, thanks for the input. Quote

I sent you a list of dimensions in a pm, but when I hit send I had another program crash and lock up windows. Then I got a call and headed out the door after that. didn't even think to ask you if you got the measurements until now. Sorry man. Let me know if you got them or not. - Jared Quote

My side sover program are written for a Siemens 840D control. I doubt you would even understand whats going on inside the program. I'd send you the CAM file but I did the programs in Catia and UG, so you couldn't open them. Sorry I can't be the most help right off the bat. I can tell you to watch the foam, it likes to get on the mchine's ways which eventually makes the machine angry. Quote

badassbanshee479 Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 I have a stock cover lying around if you want to take some measurements off of it, I live over in brighton so I could meet up with ya some where. just take what ya need and then give it back when you are done. let me know I can pm ya me cell # if ya want Quote
FireHead Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 What version of Catia are you using? That might make a difference which cover file you get from me................... :baseball_w00t: Quote
