Designing a stator cover in CAD

What version of Catia are you using? That might make a difference which cover file you get from me................... :baseball_w00t:

 

 

I believe it is Catia V5. Im pretty damn sure about that. WHat do they accept, SPX files, and somethin else. Get back to me, later!!

I need to know what release of Catia that you are using since they are not backwards compatible. Catia uses *.prt, *.asm, etc. files. I have never heard of a *.spx file. :baseball_mitt:

OK all i know is that it says V5 after Catia. Why dont you send me what you have and i can see if it works monday. Yea the .spx is for I-DEAS i think, I believe we use the .prt files for Catia. My email addrss is [email protected]. Let me know,

Am I the only one that thinks that getting a program from another machinist is like cheating on a test? (Maybe I'm just not grasping this)

 

... on another note you wouldn't happen to have a program that will run on a Fadal would you? I can get the software info tomorrow.

A fadal is probably running a Fanuc control as well. I guess the one question that I didn't and needed to was to make sure that we are talking about a 3 axis vertical mill. I went back through my programs for stator covers, and even though I made a couple on a vertical mill, I seem to nly have the Catia files for a 5 axis machine. I am ab it nevous handing out CAM files since takes alot of skill and training to be any good with it and I would hate to have anyone blame me for them knocking there machine. :baseball_santa:

By the way, I don't care if you jack the design, it's not like I have ever made any money off this stuff, it was all for my own entertainment. I just didn't want some homo using my file with a shit post to create a piled up mill. :baseball_santa:

We've got 3 Fadal 4020's on HS88, we can strip the program down. I had thought about making some 3 pieces and this would save a ton of time with random design spec'ing. I just happen to have 3 pieces of stock that would work very well (look at that I plan 8 years in advance :baseball_original: ) We're trying to pick up a newer mill got to get rid of an old Daewoo CNC lathe first.
