I bought the a new one from Yamaha. My thinking was that if this happened to mine, there would be alot worse to be had on eBay. :baseball_innocent: Quote
bigboybanshee Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Mine did the same thing and I got a used one from NYUK, no problems since. You could always rig up a small toggle switch if you don't want to buy another one. Quote
ferociousllama Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 I bought my first Banshee on Saturday (8/26/06). The stop switch didn't work. Opened the switch by unscrewing the 2 screws that hold it to the handle bars. There is a plastic plate with 2 contacts that slides into a groove inside the switch. The plate had popped out of the groove. All I did is pop the plate with contacts back into the groove. It works perfectly now. You can check the switch with the black wire and the black wire with a white stripe. It should be an open loop when the switch is to "on". Don't waste a hundred bucks on a new switch. dajogejr Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Yeah, heck with that. I've got a steel two way on/off switch I mounted behind the radiator in the cover...back in on, forward is off. I gotta rig up my tether properly, though...it's a requirement for all 300ft sand drags round here... Quote
FireHead Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 I am not sure about the price but I think I only paid like $47 for my new factory switch. :baseball_mitt: Quote
BigRed350x Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 I just put a toggle switch up on my radiator. The one on my bars doesn't work. Never has, never will. Quote
csrmel Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 dajogejr, after thinking about the tether and what you said about it being a requirement for certain forms of racing, im starting to believe it is probably a good idea for all types of quad running. im probably going to put a tether on mine. i notice the banshee has enough torque at idle that it will propel its self in 1st 2nd and 3rd without using the throttle, so a runaway quad is a real possibility if ya fall. i would hate to fall off and have to get back up and run after my banshee as its idling down the road in 3rd. for the kill switch guy with problems and anyone else. see if you can spray some wd40 into the switch, or better yet there is actually a powdered graphite prodict which you can buy that is actually made for switches, locks and other stuff of that similar nature. it wouldnt be a bad idea to give the switch some lube once in a while. actually it would also be good to go the headlight switch and even the on-off key once in a while too. im thinking once a year should be plenty.
