VIPES Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 HEY FELLOW RIDERS ! I HAVE DISCONNECTED THE TORS, DISCONNECTED/ELIMINATED THE E BRAKE AND DISCONNECTED THE WIRE FROM THE THROTTLE (NOT THE ACTUAL THROTTLE BUT THE OTHER ONE.). IS THERE ANY WIRES I HAVE TO SPLICE AND CONNECT TOGETHER ? PLEASE HELP WITH INSTRUCTIONS. BIKE TURNS ON BUT WILL SHUT OFF WITHIN SECONDS. Quote
MagsDragon Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Ok well there could be a variation of different things but i also just did the same thing ur doing to my friends banshee today. First off there is no splicing involved. Your quad will not idle anymore because when you remove your TORS you loose your idle. To fix that you must drill and tap your idle screws into your carb. (PROBALLY MOST VITAL STEP BE VERY CAUTIOUS). Make sure that you have put the slides back in the correct carburetor, and the right way. The side of the slide with the cut away at the bottom MUST face the airbox or intake. Also make sure that all your carbs lines are properly connected. Since you say it begins to start it must be something fuel related. Try what i said, and if it still dosnt run come back, and well figure it out. Quote
BenBB Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 I agree, no splicing is involved, you can just disconnect everything at the connectors, although you also need to disconnect the TORS control box; it's bolted to a frame crossmember just above the left cylinder. If you're just eliminating the electrical part of the system, the huge boxy carb tops should still adjust your idle and carb synch with the knobs, but it's well worth getting the elimination kit like MagsDragon said. [email protected] Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 you should just tape the ends off . Here is my thread that i think will help you http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...iew=getlastpost Quote

EVEYONE'S INPUT HAS BEEN GREAT. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT. THANKS ALL. I ALSO DIsCONNECTED THE TORS BLACK BOX AT THE SAME TIME, JUST FORGOT TO MENTION IT. WHEN I INSTALLED THE T-5's, I ALSO DRILLED AND TAPPED THE CARBS MY SELF. NOW I THINK IT IS JUST A JETTING ISSUE BECAUSE IT IDLES FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS THEN SHUTS OFF. THE CARBS MAKE THAT FUNNY BOGG-ED OUT SOUND WHEN I GIVE IT GAS. I WILL INSTALL 280 JETS. IS THAT A GOOD RANGE TO USE? I RIDE AT PISMO AND GLAMIS. I AM IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA. I WILL HAVE TO OPEN THE CARBS AGAIN AND CHECK EVERYTHING. ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL BE NICE, THANKS ! Quote
[email protected] Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 make sure that little cross over tube , that bridges the two carbs together did not fall off . I have had that problem happen to me and well it nearly drove me crazy until i figured it out. its about 2 inches long and black runs from the inside of both carbs and connects them both. Quote
Animalman294 Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Hey Vipes, they gotcha set up real nice with the info, but ya need to turn off the caps lock buddy. Quote
Big Blue Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Did you cut the small part one the side of the carbs before you drilled and tapped them? Quote
MagsDragon Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 CORRECTION! Ok well on the side of your thumb throttle assembly closest to the radiator you will see a small electrical line running out of your thumb throttle casing. This wire is in relation to your former TORS. What I just figured out today was in this wire has a depression sensor on it which is a little button basically which when your thumb throttle is completely released like you want it to idle it will create a short in the motor making the motor stall. Dont overpass this because it drove me up a wall, and id hate to see a fellow banshee owner go nuts on his too. Although you may need to close the circut from where the electrical line originates from the placstic connector under the gas tank all you have to do is cut the two wires and twist them together and a little electrical tape if you dont have any 2 line splicing connector which might work a little more efficent. Tell me how to comes out. Quote

However if he followed the steps in my thread he would not have any issues relating to what you are talkin about :baseballcap_blue: Quote
MagsDragon Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 Oh sorry didnt read your thread my apologies. Quote
White06Shee Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 what does disconecting the "tors" do and the other wires do? Quote
White06Shee Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Can AnyOne Tell Me What Disconecting The Tors Do? And The Wire By The Throttle Line? ANYONE???????????????????????? Quote
jlsparky7 Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Can AnyOne Tell Me What Disconecting The Tors Do? And The Wire By The Throttle Line? ANYONE???????????????????????? TORS stands for throttle override system, This system can cause starting problems as well as sometimes cause you to lose power and alot of your RPM range. I didnt need to buy the kit, i just cut all the wires and took the computer out and it runs great now. Had to change my idle too. Quote
