byebyeshee Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 So, I'm selling this head I have thats shaved .060. Obviously it boosts compression but how much? And can someone run this head on super unleaded with T5's, jetted and K+N?? What else happens with this mod and what else needs to be done for it to work right? Thanks in advance for any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote

RIPPEN Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 I have heard of people going as much as .70-.75... Mine was cut way low and ended up having the pistions smack the head. So first off a squish test would be a good idea. As far as octane needed ect, you need to do a compression test to see what kinda compression you actually have. Porting and elevation obviously have a big effect on compression and its hard to say where its at without actually testing it... RIPPEN Quote

byebyeshee Posted August 17, 2006 Author Report Posted August 17, 2006 Just out of curiousity...are you registered on 3WW?...If so this is Craig  Yep thats me.... I will not sell this head if it will hurt someones stock motor. Please, if everyone could elaborate it would help. If he ran another head gasket he would probably be right back to stock so thats a waste of $$ I assume.... Quote
Dinner Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 (edited) Yea i don't want my pistons smashing it :baseball_wibble: But i wouldnt think that another head gasket would be .060 But i could be wrong  The other guys will pitch in and help. And i see the T5's are sold..shitty  Edited August 17, 2006 by Dinner Quote
BigRed350x Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 An easy way to check if the pistons will hit the head is to spray the head with dry graphite and set it in place, bolt down real light, not tight, kick it over by hand once or twice with the plugs out, then remove the head and if the pistons are hitting it will leave a mark in the graphite. If it does hit, take it to a machine shop and have them move the squish band a little farther back. Quote
byebyeshee Posted August 17, 2006 Author Report Posted August 17, 2006 Anyone have any input, please?? Quote

RIPPEN Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 DUDE, You have had a bunch of input from a couple different people. Can you not read or what? Maybe he wants it sugar coated :yelrotflmao: Ok.. ah hum, the head will give you 20 more ponies and you should sell it for at least 800 bucks  Seriously dude, there is a few things you need to do (listed above) that will help you answer your own questions.. If you have problems figuring out the results of the "tests" than we can help. But IMO your outta luck untill YOU can give more info/details.. RIPPEN Quote

You might gain a little bit HP wise, but its impossible for us to GIVE you an exact number as to how much power you MIGHT gain from shaving the head. Personally I would just buy a cool head. byebyeshee Posted August 19, 2006 Author Report Posted August 19, 2006 The deal is that I don't want to mislead anyone who is interested in the head. I have kids who PM me and want the head just because they think "faster" but I don't want to damage their engine just so I can profit from a sale. Thats why I was looking for more information. Maybe some of you should respect that. The rest of you, thanks for the help. Try telling a 14yo kid to do a squish test.... Some of you said .070 - .075 and another .020 - .030 - thats a big difference so I wanted ANOTHER OPINION FROM OTHER MEMBERS. Let me be a bit more specific about some things. Is a shaved head a benefit to a stock motor? And thats merely because it boosts compression? Is a shaved head supposed to work along with some other type of crank or engine mod? What PSIG requires race fuel? I'm assuming the "squish band" is the tight tolerance on the outer surface of the head which is closest to the piston head... If it does hit, wouldn't relieving the squish band pretty much get you back where you started in terms of compression and be a waste of $$ Quote

Do a search. Besides if the kid runs it in his bike and fucks it up its his fault not yours. HE shouldn't be buying shit he doesn't know how to use. Plain and simple. I'm sick of people getting banshees and fucking them up because they don't know how to take care of a two-stroke or how they work. Some people should just stick with polaris. (talking about the kid, not you... but what are you doing with a shaved head if you didn't know about what it does or what it changes?) Quote
Guest nightmare Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 Yes a shaved head will benefit a stock motor. It is a great way to get some extra power without spending much money. Quote

The quad came from a kids parents after he was murdered. I got it to part it out, it came with the head and a few other goodies.... Quote
