400ccStroker_shee Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 I have a 400 cc stroker kit and I have 34 pj's 158 mains, 55 pilots and ceg 4th clip it runs good and sounds good, but I can't get it to idle, do I need to change my pilot go bigger or smaller. If I just barely crack the throttle it will idle, I have a pretty good idea but just a little help, thanks!!! Quote
jbooker82 Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 (edited) How many turns out is the Idle knob? I think it needs to be some where in the nighbor hood of 5.5 turns out or 30 clicks. I remember reeding it some where on here but, I cant remember where. What kind of air box set up do you have? Edited August 12, 2006 by jbooker82 Quote

400ccStroker_shee Posted August 15, 2006 Author Report Posted August 15, 2006 well i got another q.... when turing the air screw idle screw counter clock wise is that givin more air or more gas? it will idle at 46 clicks but its got a small bog when you crack the throttle not 2 sec like i posted befor but it is noticable that it bogs for a split sec befor taking off. i cant remember if after 3 or so turns if you need to go bigger on pilot or smaller? but i know the pilot isnt right if i got to go tha many clicks out. every 6 clicks is a turn so 46 clicks im looking at about 7 and a half turns. thanks in advance. Turning the Air Screw out (counter clock wise) gives it more air. If your air scew is more than 3 turns out then you need a smaller pilot jet. My air screw is around 1 turn out with 55 or 52 pilot jet. My banshee idled and ran great with the mods and jetting in my sig. The pilot did seem rich. I put on some KN PODS and am re doing my jetting. WESW recomended to me to try different carb needles. He said that he has never been able to get a banshee to run good with CEG needles that the carbs come with. He recomended a CEK for my set up. Same taper and length as the CEG only it has a bigger straight diameter to cut the fuel down in the 1/4 throttle range. I just ordered some DEK's tonight to try with my pods. The DEK's giver a richer mixture as you transition from 3/4 throttle to wot (where the main jet controls). If your going to get some needles i got mine from Sudco Web Page LINK. I would order a set of CEK and DEK needles. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 right on thanks, i wasnt sure if we (me and 400ccstroker) where going the right way with the pilot... im going to try the needle after i get the pilot closer. Quote
