jbooker82 Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 6 grand into a raptor barely beating a piped only shee? C'mon... Either you smoked your breakfast, or the raptor guy was smoking it as you were racing... For 6 grand you could easily put 55 to 60HP to the ground on that raptor. Don't tell me your T5 piped banshee with about 38 HP is going to beat that.... My raptor is in the lower 60's for $1600. It has all stock suspension so it is kind of a sleeper. In a flat out drag race it beats my banshee. It isnt a blow out but it consistantly beats it in a drag race. Neither machine is a drag machine. They are machines that get dove on trails, back roads, and once or twice a year dunes. Just fun to ride period. Raptor Hot Rods 720cc Kit. 10.5:1 Compression Ratio $500 on ebay. Kenz Cycle Tech Porting $450. Hot Cams Stroker Cam $100 Curtis Sparks 6X exhaust $475 L&A Air Box Eliminator. $75 Banshee 350cc setup MX Ported Cylinders Cool head 19cc domes V Force 2 Reeds FMF SST Pipes with Turbine Core 2 Silencers Timing Advanced +4 deg Nology Coil with Hot Wires Boss Racing Billit Intake PJ 34mm Carbs with K&N Pods It is fun unofficial drag racing YFZ's with my raptor. Most of the people that want to race me are the 16 year old kids. They see it as "Yamaha's ultra hi performace, lightest weight race ready from the factory machine Vs. Trail machine, top heavey, tipsey, step above a utility machine." That look that you get when your right beside and pulling away from them is fun. Quote
Animalman294 Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 To answer your question about the chain, if you are steping up from stock 14 tooth to a 15 tooth front you should only have to loosen your chain from the back of the carrier. The gear is slightly larger so you should be able to use the same length chain. But put the gear on and loosen the carrier and see how much play is in it (with your weight on the bike - to compress suspension) Quote
NY350twin Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 To help you out on the launch you should start out in second gear. When i just got my banshee i raced my friends yzf , stock vs. stock and rider ability relativley equal. And by me launching it out of second i would beat him every time dirt, street, whatever. The diference is night and day. Quote

Bring that thing out to Silver Lake dunes on any holiday weekend...and I'll bet there will be some stock stroke, stock bore bikes on alky handing it to you all day, every day.... I don't know where this post came from....but for your next post, speedy, try using a period and capital letter occasionally...it makes for easier reading. Quote
