race-a-holic Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 (edited) Here's some pictures of my banshee. At first I thought maybe my tie-rod broke or maybe the knuckle(?) that attaches the a-arm to the spindle. We're now thinking my right brake locked up.That rotor is bent.Need some different opinions.Don't want this to happen again. It's like the bottom a-arm was bent back and down and the upper a-arm slightly bent forward toward the shock. If you didn't look at the other side you might not even notice. blueshee03 Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 looks to me as though the impact was enough on the lower half of the tire to actually cause the spindle to twist for and thus caused the lower a arm to bend down and back and the upper to bend forward.if it happened as i say it could of also caused the top heim or balljoint to snap.just my 2 cents Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 looks like you hit something hard with that tire. i know ive bent the fuck outta tie rods and broke ends before just by hittin something with the tire... Quote
bigboybanshee Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 I don't think the brake locked up, just because I've locked mine up several times and it still pushes forward. Unless you have some serious braking power, I think something else happened. Can you tell if any of the adjuster nuts on the tie rods were loose...maybe causing one side to get out of whack and send you sideways? I was watching the video I posted and I could tell you were pulling to the right on that last run you and I made...maybe it vibrated loose and was enough to really throw off your steering...I don't know, I wish I could have been a fly on the guardrail so i could have seen what happened up close. lonestar Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 That sucks BIG TIME. Your lucky you didn't get hurt. Quote

I saw the whole thing. I also looked at the tire tracks. Your skidmarks were going toward the right almost immediately. I'm thinking there was some debris or something on the right tire, just enough so it couldn't hook as hard as the left. Glad to know your alright though. It was scary as hell to watch. bigboybanshee Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 Hey Dallas, did you check both rear tires to make sure they're still inflated equally? I'm wondering if maybe the screws in the right rear tire broke loose and it spun on the wheel, while the left tire grabbed and sent you to the wall.... Could be like j-madd suggested though. If that's the case, we'll never know for sure Quote

I'm glad you was not a fly on the guard rail.I would have smashed ya. looks like you hit something hard with that tire. i know ive bent the fuck outta tie rods and broke ends before just by hittin something with the tire... I hit a steel railing, and it was hard. How do I know?Because it threw me into it also. Man,trust me.Don't try that.It hurts. Quote

2bzy2p Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 i dont think it had to do with the breaks but u take them dudes off and your about 10 pounds lighter,,,!!! dont need no stinken front breaks! Quote
DUNE-A-TIC Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 I'm with debris on track, be it whatever it may be the right line of the lane allways seems to have more than the left and no matter where we race the bikes tend to go to the right slightly or sometimes sudden. If you ever run a bar, you will really start noticing it. Dune Quote
race-a-holic Posted July 28, 2006 Author Report Posted July 28, 2006 I'm pretty sure the banshee just pulled me off it.As soon as I launched,I was already coming off the bike.As I was going off,I must have turned the front wheels toward the rail.Found this out going frame by frame of the video. It pulled me off the left side.I might have broke the aluminum tierod as I was going off the banshee.Hanging on for dear life. :baseball_w00t: I think this is what happened.??????? J-Madd Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 One of my friends that saw the wreck said your left hand let go, then of course all that torque is gonna pull your right arm back and steer into the rail. He's certain that's what he saw. Quote
