so my shee feels pretty good on pavement in a straight line, goes fast. offroad it feels gutless until it reaches it's powerband, which was giving me some probs last night riding through the bush at slow speeds. on a 10foot hill with about a 40* incline i'm barely getting into the powerband once i reach the top, is this normal? just feels like it takes forever to get into the rpms & make power. i don't know how else to describe it, is this normal? my xl250 and cr250 climb hills faster then this thing does! i have stock sprockets, i was thinking i might go smaller on the forward sproket so i can get into the rpms faster??

That little lever on the left-hand side of your bars... you should learn how to use it. Its like power on demand.

If he's on that kind of an incline he might flip it by blipping the clutch. But, I think that lever may still be part of the problem. From my experience hill-climbing, duning whatever... you have to be either in the power or very near to it. You're not going to lug along and just pull it up into the power.

Same

I usually try to be in the powerband before i start climbing a hill. If not, then ill clutch it near the bottom so i'm in the high RPM's going the rest of the way

i just wanted to make sure there wasn't something wrong with the machine. earlier today i got some new sprockets, and after some experimenting i ended up with 13 teeth on the front and 44 teeth on the rear. (stock is 14/41) yeah i've definitely lost top end, but 90% of my riding is done in 1-3gear, so i'm not too worried about it. handles much better now...i'm gonna go find that hill this week and see how it goes again

Thats odd man i run 14-41 when i go in the woods and i have no problems. Only problem i really ever have is keeping it in the right gear at all times. Best advice i can tell you is dont be afraid of the gas thats what its there for.

well this 'shee hauls ASS with this new sprocket setup! i'm being more aggressive with the clutch as well, i had an awesome ride today. got some great air, and came home covered in about 1/4" of mud everywhere lol. found a huge raspberry patch and looong grape vines so i had an afternoon snack out in the bush too. great day !

maybe next season after i do a top end i'll go back to the 14/41, we'll see. this 13/44 is kickin' ass now though :baseball_w00t: :baseball_w00t:
