Listen closely the AMA outdoors, the whole time those bikes are in th eair they are on the rev limiter.

ya, and at the last X-games MC had a 25,000 dollar tranmission in his bike.

They rebuild those bike after every race because the compression they run which is rumored to be well over 14:1, and all they do is replaced the ring and piston regardless of waer. all other internal parts are replaced as necassary. MC's tranny cost 25,000 cuz of the man hours that were put into it, there is no way that a dirtbike tranny could 25k in materials alone. I mean think about, he is worried about hiting the rev limiter, but if you pull in the cluch with the throttle at wot with the motor at redline ur gonna hit rev limiter anyway. And I did not comment in any way that using the rev limiter to shift would be OK. I simply stated that the rev limiter is there to keep the engine within its design parameters so that it does not catostrophically fail if the rpms spike to 15,000.

Good or bad I do it all the time in the dunes. Sometimes the sand gets soft too fast and if I don't power shift it I'm going to stall and possibly roll.

I tend to powershift into higher gears more often but have also done it the other way around when I have to go down a couple gears really fast because the bike is bogging. If it goes smooth I don't think it could be too hard on the bike at all, or maybe I'm just dumb. Sometimes I am not in a good position to pull in the clutch but the bike needs to be shifted in a hurry...Thats when the power shift happens....

Of course every now and then when I do it I shift into Neutral :baseball_bat:

everybody on yfz that is winning where i race is shifting without the clutch on the rev limiter. not say that it is the best way, but if you think about it, it works just like a air shifter works. anyway if you wanted to go with a override on it they only make a second through fourth for them right now i think. just my .02.

the way i race my bike is exactly how i race my car, when u hit ur shift point i keep it wot, and slap shift, i race a lot of bikes that are faster than mine and beat them like this, just never let off the gas, i grab the clutch, kinda slap it and shift, you cant even hear it shift its so fast...but thats just what im used to, takes a little getting used to whatever way ur gonna do it so all u need to do is just practice, but your shifts need to be the snappiest you can make them whatever way you do it, ive raced guys i swear they'd pull on me a half bike and as soon as they shifted (let off gas and shifted, then got back in it) i'd be dead even with them, id gain a half bike every shift...but its just how u like to do it.
