BigRed350x Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Hey guys I was curious. I have vforce reeds from 2001. How long do the reeds last before they have to be replaced? Is their away to tell w/o pulling them off? I wouldn't go more than 2 years on a set, even if they look good. There will be micro cracks which will get bigger over time. That's just me though and I'm kinda anal about shit like that. Stick them in and if they work and you are happy with it, run em! Quote
r/atvshee Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 (edited) to tell when the reeds are wearing out is if there breaking or have chips. my v forces are just as old as yours and run like a champ. so you should be fine for now Edited July 13, 2006 by r/atvshee Quote
hollisatp Posted July 13, 2006 Author Report Posted July 13, 2006 sounds like I should take them out to look at them hu? Quote
r/atvshee Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 better safe than sorry :thumb: ..........if your shee is having problems like bogging then it would be best to replace Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 I had to replace mine, after 3-4 years of use, because a couple of the petals wouldn't close all the way. No cracks or chipping in them though, so I saved them, for an emergency repair. Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 id take a look at em and while ur in there flip em around and thell be like new again for a while but u should be all good the reeds that we`ve had in our 92 are stock and hav`nt shown any signs if wear i just flipped them around for the hell of it last week Quote
Ducman Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Mine had tiny cracks and were wearing out on the corners causing them not to seal good after 1 year or about 150 hrs. I probably could have flipped them over but I decided not to chance it with my new motor. They wear out pretty fast and you have to remove the petal to see the wear on the corners where the reed touches the cage. Quote
Animalman294 Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Mine looked pretty good when I took mine apart, and it is an 02............. Quote
