fastcar01 Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 How do you remove the stock airbox and reinstall it? It looks like it is riveted to the frame? Quote
Dinner Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 It's not, you just have to push it forward(towards the gas tank), and it should break free off those two front supports. Then just take it out, i just turned it a little and brought it out the top. Same with installing it, get it in the frame, line it up with the little support brackets and push it back onto those. Then bolt it up it you have bolts. Quote
Bansh88 Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 Get rid of that airbox! It comes off easier if you remove the intake boots Quote
apbt549 Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 it comes off like dinner said its a pain in the ass to take off and put back on......i am thinking about leaving mine off and putting pods on...... Quote
platinumjason Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 Pods are definatly the way to go if you dont drive in mud or water. Quote
fastcar01 Posted July 11, 2006 Author Report Posted July 11, 2006 I am going to install the vents like Toomey says to do. I believe it says to take it off and install vents on the side, then put it back on. I am wondering though how much it matters to just install vents in the lid? I do hit water sometimes. Thanks Quote

Thanks Throw that sob away while you have it off.If you dont sink it up in mud or water you will be much happier with the pods. They make everything from rejetting to rebuilding the topend so much easier. But I ride in the mud and sometimes it rains, so we hit large puddles. Quote
Animalman294 Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Mine is off the bike now and it will never, ever go back on. That had to be one of Yamaha's more asinine designs................ :: Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 cut the plastic U shaped things off the airbox when you have it off. The airbox is supported plenty without them, and you can re install and take it out way easier then. Quote
