awesomeame Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 what would i call that piece of plastic that goes right behind the heel? it's missing on my 'shee.. --matt Quote
Hilarious Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 Yes, you are missing your heel guards. If you really think that you need some, I have a pair that you can have, or anyone else that may live close to me. You would be certainly welcome to them. :thumb: Quote
awesomeame Posted July 8, 2006 Author Report Posted July 8, 2006 do i really need them, i dunno? i'm just missing the right hand side. most of my riding is going to be trail, so if they're just gonna break again i don't see any point in replacing them. what should i doooo? --matt Quote
tithead Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 i used to have heel guards all the time on the 450. but when i got the pro peg nefs i took them off. basically if you are riding and have heel guards they are to stop your foot from slipping off the back of the peg so you dont get dragged under the rear wheel. they have saved me a few times but im used to riding without them now. if your foot slips alot i would put them back on. Quote
Animalman294 Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Mine were given to me when I bought my shee, and they never went on the bike. they are somewhere in my garage, well where my garage would be if I could wade through it............... :yelrotflmao: Quote
bansheefreak Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 same here i have a set somewhere i would have to dig them up .. if someone really needs them i can see if i can find them pay shipping and they are yours... i would suggest running without and start looking for nerf bars... Quote
awesomeame Posted July 9, 2006 Author Report Posted July 9, 2006 i think i WILL try running without. never had any big foot slippage issues in the past, so should be good --matt Quote
flipcarre Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 I'd rather be safe than sorry, if you trail ride put them on. Thats what i would do, because it can get rough out there and your foot might slip Quote
RIPPEN Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 When I got my bike all that was there was pegs... I decided I should get something so I got the stock setup with heel guards like your talkin.. Two weeks later I got pitched funny off this little ass jump and my foot slipped forward off the peg and up under the bike. Iam still paying for the doctor bill and that was two years ago. I recomend you drop the 100-200 bucks on a set of nerfs and be done with it. Some guys don't like nerfs but I love mine and my legs... RIPPEN Quote

RIPPEN Ya i'm with you on making a good investment into some nerfs. I can't even think on how many times trail riding my heel guards woulda saved my legs. Quote
dave95.1 Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Get a good set of nerfs, you won't regret it. Quote
STLBILL Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 Hi all: You lose your "improvised short-distance reverse gear" with nerf bars. Get ready to hop off and grab the a$$-end more in trails. However, they protect in several ways. I recommend them. I have also witnessed pro hare scramble racers using them to "pivot" around trees in tight wood sections. Maybe someone on here can tell me if that is accidental or on purpose? It looks like they just don't worry about getting trees caught between the axles. Either way I'm sure some environmental group cringes every time they do that... :-) -BiLl Quote
chris642 Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 you dont need them at all, i had them on my bike then my brother borowed the banshee and he hit a rock and broke one. I just took both off and didnt like it at first but i havnt had any problem when trail riding and jumping. Most of the time i dont even have my right foot on the peg( bad habbit) becasue of the shitty peg position, i keep it towards the back and even then i never had a problem Quote
Animalman294 Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 You lose your "improvised short-distance reverse gear" haha :baseball_w00t: I love it............ I only have my pegs and I have never had any problems, but if I didn't still have the stockers I would buy the Nerf's...................... Quote
