I keep reading this over and over that the slides can be in wrong. Please correct me if I am wrong, but there is a grove on teh slide and a boss in the carb, that only allows the slide to go in one way. I am not understaning how they go in wrong? In fact if you don't line up the groove and boss you can't even put the cap on becasue the slide will not go down far enough???? I am just wondering, my machine runs fine, but I am curious. Thanks

you could switch the carb slides around and totally put them in the opposite carbs... but if this happens the slides will be totally backwards and pusth to much gas into the motor... so if you are doing any kind of carb work you should take one slide out at a time and put it back in before you do the other ...or just label them L and R... trust me this stupid mistake cost me $150 in trouble shooting when it was something this stupid :banghead:

you shouldnt mix parts, if you rebuild ANYTHING it doesnt matter if its a pair of carbs or pistons or a pair of wheel bearings you should awalys seperate things into their own boxes/trays/whatever and clearly label them and keep them seperated.

its OK to take apart both carbs at once. but you shouldnt ever have the left and right carb parts intermingling.

What symptoms will be presnt if they are switched?

Thanks for the explanation

Sputtering through about 3rd gear, until it cleans out. I fixed a guy's Banshee this weekend that had the slides in wrong. It took 10 mins and he paid me $40. I immediately knew what was wrong by the symptoms, having done the same thing myself a few years ago.

Best way to tell is if you look in the inlet side of the carb you should see a small curve cut in the bottom of the slide. If you don't and it's in the back (outlet side) they're in wrong

jankab is right. Another way that I've discovered is that there are little round sight glass windows on the right sides of both carbs. I look for the little indentations on the slides to match up with the windows , that way I know there in correctly.
