sj30 Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 so i recently broke my clutch cable..... not a big deal but than a friend suggested getting a hydraulic clutch and i asked him what made it better and he wasn't sure..... so my question is what makes a hydraulic clutch better than just a normal cable and is it worth the price if i don't intend to race it Quote
ssanddemon Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 I think it's one of those things that are nice but not necessary. I was toying with the idea of a juice clutch but decided to go with an ASV perch & lever instead. Magura promises a 20% reduction in clutch pull and obviously it never needs adjusting since it is hydraulic. But for 1/2 the price, I got a decent pull reduction, adjust on the fly, and a much nicer and better quality lever setup than Magura offers (tho ASV does have a lever for the Magura clutch as well for ultimate pimp factor). Just my .02- just about anything beats the factory set up. Quote
cdwood37 Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 The only nice thing would be that the pull would be less. And also you would never have to adjust it but in turn there are more o-rings and seals to go wrong with it. Go with the ASV levers and clutch cable they are nice and easier to tune and work on. racer Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 asv's are pimp shiz. on that note, i bought an applied racing perch/lever combo two days ago. lol Quote
izericson Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 i got a magura. big whoop, not much differance. yea its a little easier to pull but i am not 180 bucks impressed. go with the asv unless you just want it to have it. Quote
Chape1980 Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 I broke my cable about a year and a half ago. I replaced it with a Magura hydraulic clutch. I think if you ride for long periods of time during a dune trip or if your racing it helps. If you trail ride here and there without going on long rides you really don't need it. Its a nice luxurry to have and they don't ever have to be adjusted. But they are really expensive comparativly speaking. I'm glad I splurged and got mine and my hand loves it to!!! Quote
MinEsFasteR79 Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 I recently broke my cable too. and I was thinking about the hydraulic clutch but it just doesn't seem like its worth it. in my opinion. I got a nice asv and new cable and it works great for me. Quote
dawarriorman Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Is it worth it .... No. Is it a nice thing to have .... Yes. I wouldn't spend the money on it unless you just have money to blow, but personally I can think of better uses for the money. I haven't ridden a quad or dirt bike with a hydraulic clutch, but I've ridden a couple of street bikes with them, and they are nice. But it isn't that huge of a pull reduction, and i don't have to adjust my clutch that often anyways. Quote
