Just wondering what the details were for doin' this job? I know you have to have a flywheel puller, but is there a way to do this job, without a puller?? I have a RS adj. timing plate and I need to get it installed..Any help guys? Tips? I was thinking +4, maybe 5.

the flywheel pullers make it easy but if you are not planning on doing flyheel work very often then you can save the price of a puller by using 2 small screwdrivers to GENTLY pry at the backside of the flywheel, and then with a 3rd set of hands place a brass drift on the crank and lightly wack it with a small ball peen hammer.

the key here is not to use much force. let the inertia of the endplay of the crank seperate its self from the flywheel.

Uhhh, don't do that. :shootself:

Prying of any sort could/will bend or warp the flywheel. Don't be cheap, just buy the puller, its $10.

Another vote for 'Please don't!'.

Flywheels of the magneto variety don't like getting jarred, dropped or dinged. Well, neither does a flywheel of a NON-magneto variety.

A sharp impact (maybe when the thing p-i-n-g-s off onto the floor) can cause a loss of magnetism. You generally fix that problem by buying a new flywheel. Expen$ive!!

Get a puller made for the machine...cost about $10. Note the left hand thread part of using it!!

Sounds like I'll end up gettin' a flywheel puller or have something with more experience do it for me,heh..

If not 4*, then what do YOU recommend?? Mods are in my sig, stock compression, head, etc? Run 93 pump gas, mix it 32:1 Klotz, and all that jazz.

DO NOT PULL IT WITHOUT A PULLER!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, nuff said. Trust me it is a lot cheaper to buy a puller from the local dealer (Motion Pro for $9.49) than it is to buy new flywheel. Just for fun call the local stealership and ask them how much they will rape you for a new flywheel.

Plus four will work just fine for your mods..............

Use a flywheel puller or a 3jaw(lightly) definately don't pry at it, you could fck the flywheel or crank up. Whats wrong with running a +4? I'm running a +6....

As long as you have everything stripped down to the flywheel and have the nut off most atv shops will just zip it off for you at little or no charge. I have done this twice because I could not find a puller for sale without ordering off the internet. But then again this is Nebraska and people are a little nicer than other places.
