Rebel3190 Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Ive seen a few ppl truing and welding their crank whats the advantage of doing this and how hard is it? Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 the banshee crank is proned to pull apart. Welding it prevent this. Do it or you will have a very expensive bill. It requires you taking apart the whole engine. Quote
Satsol67 Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 I have been thinking alot about this myself. Can you see if it has been done with the jugs off? or do i have to split the case? Quote
lowriderb Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 youd have to split the cases.. i would do it even with a stock bike after catching mine when it started to come apart.. Quote
Satsol67 Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 mine has been though 2 owners besides me and has had alot of mods done to it. So i wonder if that has been done already and if not would it have come apart by now. Its a 2000 and i am sure it has been ran hard. The top end has been rebuilt before i got it and now i am redoing it myself only cause the right side piston came apart. Quote
kfngrn Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 The only way that you can tell if it has been welded is to take the crank out and there will be some smaller welds on the pins that hold the crank to gether. They do not weld the crank together the welds just hold the pins in place so they do not move. They recomend doing it if you have 50hp or above. I had mine at 48hp for 3-4 years and never had a problem. I then just changed my crank with a hotrod crank they come welded. Quote
Satsol67 Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 That was another question i have. I noticed i have hot rod rod's are those stock? My guess would be no and it would seem to me if you go through the trouble of replacing those the crank would have been welded. Course my luck it hasnt been done.. lol Quote
