UNITED_BANSHEE_10 Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Does anyone know whats the top speed of stock banshee, Yfz, R660 and R700 can reach? by the way, stock like is being a virgin < some 1 said in the forum but i cant remember the person's name so the credit for that quote belongs to that person not me Quote
bansheerage Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Did you search at all i swear i seen this type of thread alot. maybee not the yfz or the craptor but i know the shee has been posted here with top speeds with just about ever different mod setup possible also stock Quote
csrmel Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 on a 100% stock banshee the top speed is between 75-85 depending on how much tyre pressure you have. the banshee in its stock form is top speed limited by its gearing. to put it very simply, you need a bigger front sprocket. better tyres would also be a big help, as knobbies have a very high rolling resistance on tarmac. not to mention running knobbies on tarmac is just dangerous. how do i know? i went on a top speed run down the interstate with a friend trailing along in his saab 900 se. he matched my speeds during the run, and told me the top speed is 75-85. if you run the stock tyres at 15-20lbs of air, you get 85mph top speed. run them at 4.5lbs and you get 75 mph top speed. i was able to top out 6th quite quickly. this means to me that i need a bigger front sprocket. also a better place to test besides the interstate. Bansh88 Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Never in the sand. You ran 85 MPH with knobbies? Was it downhill? This question is extremely non-specific and has no real answer. Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Never in the sand. You ran 85 MPH with knobbies? Was it downhill? This question is extremely non-specific and has no real answer. 519107[/snapback] Exactly. Once you factor in rolling resistance from the over inflated tires, say, a dirty chain that increases the rolling resistance, different viscosities of oil, condition of the rear carrier bearings and preload on them, wind resistance, whether you are tucked in or hanging out all over the place etc, its really hard to pin it down. Thats why when I see someone say they did 95 on a dyno I just kind of laugh inside. Quote
Animalman294 Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Ya, I remember this thread. The problem is it is going to always be different unless you have the same exact conditions. I mean the speeds above are going to be ball-park figures. It will depend on tire pressure, tire size (amount of nobies left, ambient temperature, humidity, elevation (higher elevation, less air pressure, less combustion pressure, and less % hp), weight of rider etc. etc. etc. Your best bet would be to go find someplace to get up to sixth with a pace car or truck with you, then you will know what your banshee's top speed is with you on it, temp, air pressure blah, blah , blah.........get the idea....good luck man Quote
BansheeRider71 Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 The top speed of a banshee all stock would be 77MPH The top speed of a stock 660 raptor 73 MPH The top speed of a Stock 700 Raptor 75MPH Top speed of a YFZ Stock any where from 75 MPH to 78 MPH Quote
