i know there is alot to porting your cylinders but was wonder how much porting can you go with stock carbs. i have seen alot of guys picks of port jobs and some are pretty hogged out in was wondering about how much of a gain they might be geating from stock carbs. example RBracing

You can go as big as you want. The carbs will just be limiting the output of the engine. I just got a full drag port on my cyl and i have stock carbs. It hauls ass and i know the potential for more power is there, i just have to get bigger carbs.

you can port and still run stock carbs with a pretty good increase in power, however like cadillac stated the stock carbs will limit the power potential.as for some being hogged out ,its not always how much you cut out but rather how and where you cut out.

exactly right.. you can open up the intakes and make them look pretty.. but your only hitting one spot on the the whole cylinder to make it look good for the pics that are posted (which mean absolutely nothing)..

when doing the port job you need to consider what durations your wanting to go to (exhaust height/transfer height ect..), transfer roof angles, exhuast shape, intake size (big isnt always the best).
