BLUE STREAK Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 who makes the best twist throttle kit ? I just cant get comfortable with the thumb thing I had a dirt bike so that is what I like thanks Quote
dajogejr Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Can't go wrong with Motion Pro... I grew up on dirt bikes...and almost killed me when I put the twist on mine. So...thumb it was... My buddy has only ridden quads, never bikes. Let him ride my shee..(he has a pretty fast 450R) and the first time he rode it...right on the grab bar. I still get his ass to this day with that story.... Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Motion Pro seems to be the popular twist i have a Renthal on mine works great. A Twist throt. on a quad expecially a `shee is really sketchy in my opinion not at all compared to a moto I often have my hand slip and had throt. when I DID NOT want it. Quote
dajogejr Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Blue Streak... I'm a Jackass... I have the twist throttle and cable at my house. It was literally used for about 3 rides, 2 or 3 hours on it total (just to test and tune and jet my shee...when I first bought it in Februray of 05.)... I'll give you a helluva deal on it, if you are interested. The cable is for a NON-TORS setup...so, if you have the Tors still on it...or aftermarket carbs, you'd be out of luck. I have an extra set of carb caps, if that helps.....for stock carbs. Here is the exact kit I bought...as priced from Magic: http://www.magicracing.com/product.asp?itemid=1080&catid=309 PM Me if you're interested.... Quote
mybanshees2fast4u Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 My buddy has a twist on his 660r and it is scary as fuck, you would have to be a lunatic to put on your shee Quote
blueshee03 Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 i run a twist throttle on my drag shee and love it.i will say if you go to a twist throttle on a quad be very careful till you get on to it as it can be very dangerous .when the front starts coming up with a twist throttle it will want to open the throttle up where as with a thumb throttle it will most likely want to close the throttle down.i'd say for trails stick with the thumb throttle.remember with a twist on a quad be very careful and alert. FasterThanU90 Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 yah i usually keep half my hand on it and the other part on where it clamps to the bars so i have more control and less chance of slip but on a moto i just keep it on the whole grip it just feels weird on a quad i dunno what it is sumtimes i love it sumtimes i hate it gonna go back to thumb with my cub tho. Capone Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 (edited) I almost got hit by a dump truck after I installed my twist throttle. I tried to pull in the front break, well on a thumb you don't move your hand around, so I kept on the throttle as I pulled the break. It was close I'd say if you're not dragging I wouldn't suggest a twist. Edited March 27, 2006 by Shee K Quote
BLUE STREAK Posted March 27, 2006 Author Report Posted March 27, 2006 How can it be so bad I move around a lot on a bike Cat walk, Jump, hillclimb Are the kits for the Banshees so short of throw what it sounds like to me is they are like a light switch (on or off) Maby I will modify a motocross one any input Quote
400rednEX Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 i have twists on both of my quads and would not even think of using a thumb throttle again, and i used thumb throttles for a long time before ditching them. get the shortest throw twist available, motion pro is a good one. Quote
Wicked98Shee Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 (edited) i grew up on dirtbikes got my 1st one when i was 5, and i'm 41 now. i bought a brand new DVX400 and put a twist on it, it was great. i got my shee and hadda put one on it too, NOPE off it came. the nature of a banshee is the fantastic hit and the twist sux less ur draggin. but landin off a jump in 5th gear and the throttle moves open a bit and ur on ur ass cause ur in the pipes. i feel the thumb throttle is easier to control Edited March 27, 2006 by Wicked98Shee Quote
