kawiking Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 make sure the choke tube between the carbs are connected, ive been through that 1 before.how do your plugs look? you may try new one's, it wont hurt. Quote
sheefreak Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Check your compression, if it is good, you had better start looking at electrical. You may even see a ok looking spark if the coil or stator is failing. Will be inconsistent also. Quote
Wallrat Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 I agree. $10 your carbs are gummed up. Just take em off one at a time so you don't mix up the pieces. Quote

sheefreak Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Never a bad idea to clean the carbs, pay speacial attention to the pilot jet. But the problem is, if it sometimes doesn't start w/starting fluid, it isn't going to start w/perfect working carbs. Buddy had a warrior that you could see spark all the time, but would only start and run about 1/3 of the time. Replaced the stator, ran better but sometimes still wouldn't run. Replaced the coil, and he never had a problem w/it after. Always start w/the easy stuff. Clean the carbs, try fresh plugs, make sure your bowls aren't on the wrong carb(choke won't work properly if they are swapped) make sure air filter is clean and you have good compression. Try starting again. If it doesn't start, or starts fine now, but can't get it to start next time or time after, better look at electrical. Good luck! Quote
banshee122386 Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 whenever it won't start without starter fluid gas leaks out from everywhere and it eventually gets flooded.........and I have checked the plugs many times and also have fooled around with the pilot screws trying to get it to run. I also replaced the choke tube and still sometimes it just doesn't want to start. Quote
batoutofshell Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 I agree but I would take off the gas tank emtpy it and spray it with a whole can of carb cleaner on the inside take off the petcock clean that as well you might have sand or? in there then move on to the carbs and do what they said clean them one at a time and make sure the boots are clean before you reinstall check your float height set them by the Clymers suggestionsWhile apart check you reeds and clean them put in all back together with clean dry hands so to not get any dirt in there. I do this thorough cleaning twice a year and reg cleaning at each ride when in sand. Quote
banshee122386 Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 (edited) I also heard someone say something about the parking brake on banshee's......Something about an electrical connection that causes starting problems if not all the way forward or something....On mine there is something already done to the brake so it can't engage so i don't know what i would do? If it is electrical where should i start? Does anyone know how much a new coil and new stator would be for my 96 shee? After the engine was rebuilt I forgot to put the bolts back onthe stator cover and it was only on by one bolt is it possible that it effected the starting of the banshee? How hard is it to remove the TORS? Edited March 21, 2006 by banshee122386 Quote
sheefreak Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 You can eliminate the TORS system by unplugging the little black box under the gas tank. It is possible that that is inconsistently causing you problems. Quote
banshee122386 Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 Also my clutch lever is really hard to pull where can I loosen it at? Quote
