Tim C Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 I scuffed a piston so now that I have to rebuild i'm really considering cubs. I did a search and didn't find answers to all my questions so I'm looking for some help. Most info I found are on 4mm strokers. It will be a stock stroke engine used mainly on trails and woods road - a lot of fairly high-speed running. 1. Is there much advantage to go with the 68mm bore vs. the 65mm (I'll have to get new domes if I do) 2. Can it be run on pump gas w/21cc or 22cc domes 3. Best place to get the complete kit (Cascade wants $1057 for kit) Quote

I got mine from trinity and I paid 1,110 for it with the gaskets for my coolhead. My compression @ 5,500FT is 135PSI that is with 18CC domes... So I can run pump gas still. What will be your elevation? Quote
banshee350twin Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Passion racing engines is good he told be for a 421cc fully ported cub was 1100 i think so i bet the cub 400 cub is cheaper. Quote

lowriderb Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 when you order them from anyone, be sure to ask for the stud extenders, and the plugs. both should come with the setup but for some reason they didnt with the set i had.. so there was alot of late overnight orders being put through for the two sets that i had to handle (mine and a set for my friends 14mm cub).. there isnt much to the porting for the cubs to make them run very hard... pump gas would deffinitly be usable.. as for the bore i wouldnt think there would be much of a difference with them, though the bigger bore is probably helpful, in your situation to where you dont want bb domes,go ahead and get the smaller bore.. the next think your going to want to think about is carbs and pipes... these things like to breathe.. for my motor im running 38mm carbs and about to bore them to 40mm's (i have a 4mm cub 68mm bore)... so consider that.. odaen Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 I doubt that price comes with any porting. Cost of stock vs any stroke cub is the same for the cylinders. Rocketboy on here has a stock stroke 65mm cub and he's really pleased with it, and I think it was a Passion port job. While the price of the cub may be fixed, the amount of work that a builder puts into it for that price might vary quite a bit. Cheaper isn't always better. If you want another alternative, click the link in my sig. He's not too shabby either Quote
Old Two-Smoke Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 I did mine a short time ago, I bought all my parts from Jeff,as many people have said on here he is a great guy to work with. He included every thing I needed and his prices were great. If your gonna spend the money why not go with the biggest bore you can. Quote

He can also design domes for your motor set up. Quote

Tim C Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 (edited) I talked to Jim tonight at Passion and he told me the complete 350 Cheetah Cub kit was $1064 with a clean-up port. That seems to be a pretty good price and he seemed to be a nice guy. Edited March 21, 2006 by Tim C Quote
