Capone Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Just bought a banshee, im going to replace the crank + flywheel, well I took it apart and its rusty as shit. So I figured I'd pop off the flywheel and take a look, after busting the shit out of my knuckles, this is what happened: Quote
banshee350twin Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 replace the hole god dam thing haha id right to a builder they could tell u what to do Quote
Capone Posted March 11, 2006 Author Report Posted March 11, 2006 Can I seperate the cases with the flywheel still on? Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 No, because the stator bolts to both halves, and you have to get the flywheel off, in order to get to the screws holding the stator on. Quote
racer Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 hmm, take the motor out and take it to a machine shop. or.....since the remover is reverse threaded put a socket on the larger hex and impact that bitch out in the forward direction on the gun. that bolt will come out relatively easy with all of the pressure off of it. and once its out clean up your threads and replace the bolt with a grade 8 of an F-911. if yu snap one of them fuckers off, hooo weee. banshee04le Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 Any suggestions? 485396[/snapback] Uhhh...buy a new puller. You should have mushroomed the shit out of the head of the puller before you ever snapped it off. They usually don't pop off just by tightening the puller. Tighten the puller and keep it tight and then smack the puller with a hammer. If it don't pop, tighten the puller and get a BIGGER hammer. Quote
brock_fuzzy_69 Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 and of course next time lube the threads on the puller to Quote
9603banshee Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 get a new puller, but before trying again, I'd put some PB Blaster inside (where crank and flywheel are bonded) & on the threads that the flywheel puller is going into....therefore, it might work into where the flywheel is rusted to the crank...just a thought!! shit usually works if you let it set long enough before being too impatient!! (hard to do, I know from exp.) Quote
Capone Posted March 12, 2006 Author Report Posted March 12, 2006 Yeah I don't got an air compressor so thats why I tried to muscle it with out an impact. I took it to a friends and impacted the puller out, I'm going to repace the bolt in the puller with a Grade 8 and try again, this time adding some penetrant and use the impact to tighten the bolt. Wallrat Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 Don't need a compressor. I got this little job (Clicky Clicky) and its done everything I've needed from it so far. Its not as powerful as the pneumatics, but its good enough for 99% of the jobs. Also it goes on sale pretty often. I think I paid $30-$35 for it. Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 new puller and take it somewhere and let them buzz it off with an impact... Quote
fast500#12 Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 in the picture it looks like the puller is cross threaded. those pullers are kinda cheaply made buy another and try again. i had one pull the threads off the part that screws in the fly wheel. Quote
