Banshee rage Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 (edited) My mods are in my sig. The problem i'am running into is when my Banshee has been sitting for more than a week it takes about 50 kicks to start. And sometimes i have to use starting fluid. But when its been started in a couple days it fires right up and it fires right up when its warm or cold. First kick everytime checked everthing compression, plugs, carbs and coil. So what i mean is if i start it every day it starts on the first kick if it sits for a week i have to kick my leg off or use starting fluid. Does not matter if it is summer or winter. Summer jetting is stock pilot, 320 main and needle is one position leaner than stock. summer jetting was setup on a dyno perfect 75 degrees at the time. Winter jetting is the same except for the main 340 main. Would this have anything to do with a degree key? ??????????????????? Need help Edited March 2, 2006 by Banshee rage Quote
ogre03 Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 You said it only does it when it has been sitting for a while, do you turn your gas off when you park it? Kinda simple, but you never know Quote
banshee tuner Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 Stand on your footpegs and rock the shee side to side, I mean bring the tires off the ground when you do it. It atomises the fuel and will crank on first or second kick. Quote
CombatTalon2 Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 how does rocking your bike "atomize" the fuel?? Quote
Fastrat Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 I think maybe he means mixes the gas back up, as it may seperate when sitting for a while. Quote
RNBRAD Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 It's your winter to summer jetting. You need to go up on the pilot as you may be lean on the pilot as is during the summer months, this would make it really hard to start in the winter. Quote
Banshee rage Posted March 3, 2006 Author Report Posted March 3, 2006 It does it in the summer to. It started doing it when i put a degree key in it. Is the reason for this because the key advances the timing or i'am i way off on this theory. Quote

You may have messed that up when you pulled the flywheel. If this is not it, check your jetting. Hows the choke working? Make sure your floats aren't sticking by tapping the sides of the carbs. You may pull the bowls and make sure you don't have some oil gum build up causing some issue's after it sits a few days. Quote
Banshee rage Posted March 3, 2006 Author Report Posted March 3, 2006 I will check the pick up coil. Already checked the carbs thay are clean and i will change the pilot. Any others things you guys can think of please let me know. Thanks again fellow HQ members Remember ride hard Quote
banshee tuner Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Try rocking it side to side, it might look funny but will not cost you a dime. Quote
