blackandyellowshee Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 My quad will not run because there isn't any gas getting into the cylinder. I am getting gas into my carbs, and my jets are not plugged, and my reeds are fine. But my plugs are dry! You can put gas down the spark plug hole and it runs until its out of gas. The only thing that I can think of is that my rings are screwed and its not sucking the gas in because I don't have enough compression. So I will do a compression test if I can find someone with a tester, but besides that I am clueless. Any ideas anyone? I don't wanna take it to the stealership and pay a fortune for them to pay for something that I can fix. Thanks Quote
bigboybanshee Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Sounds like you are on the right track. Doing the compression test is where I'd start They are not that expensive and you can pick up a tester at almost any auto parts store. Let us know how the results turn out Quote
banshdog Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 I second what bigboy ^^^^ said. keep us posted. Quote
odaen Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 If it has enough compression to start when you put gas directly in the cylinder, I'd strongly doubt it would be the rings. I'd pull the lines off your carbs and make sure fuel can flow to them, then there's a screw to drain the bowls, I'd loosen that and make sure there was gas in the bowls. If gas is in the bowls, it's gotta be a clogged pilot and clogged main, or you have a massive leak between the carbs and cylinders allowing lots of air to flow in easier than fuel and air from the carbs. blackandyellowshee Posted March 1, 2006 Author Report Posted March 1, 2006 There IS gas going to the carbs, and the jets are NOT plugged. There is gas in the bowl, because when I take off the carbs gas dumps out of it. So maybe a leak you say... where could it be? All my boots are tight I'm pretty sure. Quote
blackandyellowshee Posted March 6, 2006 Author Report Posted March 6, 2006 FIXED!!! I took apart my left carb to find that my choke tube was disconnected because when I took the right carb off the first time I forgot to reconnect it. I cleaned the left carb, there was a bit of dirt in there, and put it back together with a clean airfilter and it fired up first kick. Thanks to all Quote
odaen Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 sweet, had a feeling it was something in the carbs... glad you got it running again Quote
