Well... since I've had my Presa Canario, I've been wanting to crop its ears.. The only problem is.. I waited about 2 months.. and I adopted it when it was 3 months.. So I'm supposedly way past the time limit..(9 weeks)

Does anyone know if their still cutable? I've been wondering if someone is crazy enough to do it.. Anyone have any ideas?

From my experiance (with my boxers) it has to be done when they are pups, that way as they grow and build calcium it will keep the ears up.

If you crop them now they prolly won't stay up and just look stupid, for the last boxer we didn't crop his ears, no more popsicle sticks and super sticky tape and all that shit...way less work, and the dog is much happier!

yea my friend has a boxer that never had the ears touched...and she's the cutest dog around. she's already full grown and she still has that cute puppy expression that we all say is from the ears....

i'm sure ur dogs will be cool either way :)

I've got a great dane, and never had her ears cropped. I'm really glad that I didn't. It is amazing the amount of facial expression those dogs give you with those ears. It adds so much more character.

my sister breeds boxers, and always had their ears cut before selling them, until they found that most people wanted them left alone. like the others said, it adds a little more character with their expressions. i'd say it's too late now. B)

So their cutable but they won't look good?.. I was told that they can't do it period becuase they develop veins and arteries in their ears that you don't want to cut..

It kinda bums me out becuase like woodro said, they look better with their ears croped.. Heres some links to show you what I mean..(I googled this)

i wasn't ever real fond of cutting the ears anyway. the dog was obviously meant to have them. how would you feel if your parents had your ears cropped when you were a baby? i bet you'd look real cute too. :rotflmao:

Talk to your vet. If he says he'll do it, let him. If he says no, leave them alone. It's not real cheap to have them done, but at least the person doing it is a pro and can dope him up, not to mention stop the bleeding if he did cut a vein or something

I dunno man, judjing by the pica the dog looks kinda silly with cropped ears, makes them look way smaller and un natural looking. I'd leave them.

That's how I feel too. A dog can tell you a lot by the positioning of their ears....sounds silly but it's true. I don't dislike dogs that have their ears cropped, some look really good. I just wouldn't have my dog's cropped. :shrugani:
