dennybyz
Where are you basing that info from? I've had mine for a year with about 8 hours use a day off and on; no problems with it yet. The only thing I've heard of going out in the DLP TV's are the lamps, but that's only after an incredibly long amount of hours and they can be replaced really easily. DLP's are some of the best TV's when you want to compare picture quality to price for a large screen tv 475069 everyone i know that has one says hey this is great.....then and call store up get me a new one this things ........old school projection tv out of this world durable ....right ........and yes bulbs die fast .....why would you want the bother
CombatTalon2
I bought a 51" Toshiba rear projection HDTV last year on the superbowl. I love it, i get all my local Chanels in HD with a simple antenna. More and more programming is coming out in HD and with the cable and satelite providers moving towards HD, having a tv that makes full use of the programming is a must have! My brother in law has a Mitsu that is 3 years old.....it breaks all the time. The convergance chip is always the culprit.
dalegoldston
See thats what happens. You sell your bike to build a drag bike and the next thing you know is you have a cool new tv with wireless surround sound and no drag bike. Just kidding dont even know if you sold the bike. I am just jealous. But when my tv goes belly up, Im there with ya. I think I will let my 4 year old play with the hammer when I get home. I really want to wait after the LS ride to make the decision. Finally got the Mitsu all set-up. Hellofa pic with a 1080i source. My 32" LG lcd looks better with cable but it has the upconversion for cable. It also doubles as my computer monitor.

BakoBanshee
Here's what I got in the game room. It's a mess because we have a game night once a week and a bunch of guys from work come over and get their asses handed to them in halo. 60" sony Halo on HDTV fucking rocks! Sorry about the blur, had the camera on delay and I guess it didn't auto focus. 475210 Hey bigred, I have the same TV and stand as you, except I have the 50" I wish I woulda of got the 60" but I'm still happy with my Grand Wega. dogboystoy
Bought an LG Flat CRT 30" widescreen with HD for $900. The thing is only 16" deep, but it weighs 140#s. Man what a picture. The cool thing is its a CRT so I dont have to worry about the LCD issues or the plasma shit. I had to replace my 60" projection is was about 8 years old and was putting out a real shitty picture, plus my kids had drawn on the grooved screen with pens a few years ago, and when you clean the ink out you also screw up the screen. Oh well, I went to a smaller size but well worth it.

Longevity wise, they are lasting as long as thier crt counterparts with an avg life expectancy of 60,000 hours on upwards to 80k. If you use one 8 hours a day which is a little over the avg, it will last 20+ years. That's a long time to own a single tv, for me anyway. Plasma still has a (very) slight edge in picture quality but it's disadvantages far outweigh any picture quality advantages, for me. CRT's still offer great advantages in the 32" and smaller units, but big screen market will be dominated by the DLP's and LCD's.
