just got my project running as some of you know, took it riding in the snow with a couple of banshee friends ,and it ran realy great , rode it for a couple hours ,the next day took it out again ,it had a little hesatation but then ran good . rode for a little more than started to run like shit , hesitating ,breakin up ,sounds like its runnin shitty in left cylinder ,popin a little bit out back ,and smoking out front of radiator . compression is still good on both sides. working on this thing is getting old fast , any thoughts? banghead

Was the second day you rode it MUCH colder? If it was you could bee real LEAN. Might explain overheating also ( radiator dumping coolant on hot pipes) :shrugani:

about the same temp still runs shitty in worm garage , yes it did dump coolant. i dont under stand why i would just start running like shit

sounds real lean on the left side if it's popin and back firing on the left. what do your plugs look like? lean condition on the left could be a crank seal, loose cylinder, bad boot, plugged jet or carb.

overheating could be from a bad impeller in the water pump, that could also cause your problems. :bolt:

take off the clutch cover, see if plastic gear behind pump is stripped.  also take the pump cover off and make sure the actual impellar is still in tact.  is the tranny fluid grey and runny?

the tranny fluid just looked old , wouldnt it just effect the way it ran when its hot, when i first start it up when cold it still runs shity

Start her up and at idle spray her down with some carb cleaner or starter fluid.. spray the boots, reed cages, bottom of the cylinder and see if it rev's up at all. If it does then you got yourself an airleak.

no air leak, would a faulty coil cause this problem , or do they just stop makin spark

Had the same problem with my 99 banshee.Come to find out, wiseco had a bad batch of c clips for the pistons and my left side broke loose and let the pin score a 40000 groove in the cylinder wall.

if the coolant is getting past the impellar seal it will dump into the tranny. thus overheating. how's your coolant level? tranny fluid shouldn't look old, maybe dirty. propane torch works great for finding airleaks. but if your real low on coolant i'd check that impellar.
