doughboy2k3 Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 I have been adjusting it fot a while, I give up. Shee runs stong hits powerband half way threw powerband (WOT) it breaks up.Everything below WOT is perfect. Original setup: 32/1 ratio k&n , 130 comperession both sides , no air lid, stock pipes, new plugs,280 main jet, forth clip down from top of needle, stock pilot, at sea level,40 deg F still had problem.. New setup: K&n (clean and oil done) no lid , New plugs again, t5 toomeys, 330 main, 3rd grove on needle (also tried forth from top same issue) , Its hard to test plugs do to residential negiborhood, Pulled them and electrode is black. Had same problem with breakup on both setups.I love the t5s With information gathered how would you setup your carbs.. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Walt Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 If by breaking up you mean it blubbers or 4-cycles, essentially won't clean out. Then it sounds fat. Which by your mods may make sense. The 280's I would have thought were way too big for stock pipes, but that's not the issue we need to look at now. I would drop a size, and then another if it does not clean out and pull strong all the way through. Now does it pop when it starts breaking up, or does it act as though the choke was pulled? If it pops, then that would indicate that it was lean, and based on your mods I would start looking for an air leak, because it shouldn't be lean at 330. Check a few of those things and see if it helps. Quote
yellabanshee Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 where do you live? but for me, with the same set up.... replace the pilot jet to 32.5 and 340 main, especially with the the lid off and k&n... and pipes then..... the air mix... maybe 1 to 1 .5 out this runs like a raped ape for me portland oregon 200 feet elevation good luck Quote
doughboy2k3 Posted February 11, 2006 Author Report Posted February 11, 2006 Just tried wd-40 around boots, doesnt seem to leak,(NO REVING) It sounds like it gurrgaling, Like the powerband wont clear up.Its exactly like when you take a two stroke and try to hit powerband when the bike is cold. thats the only way I could describe it... bigboybanshee Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Yeah, I agree about it sounding too rich. I think you should adjust your main jet down two sizes if your plug is black and see how it runs. I was running a 290 main with toomey pipes, K&N filter and no airbox lid and my jetting was right on. FIRST BANSHEE Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 sounds to fat to me also. I would drop a size at a time untill it clears up. Quote
doughboy2k3 Posted February 12, 2006 Author Report Posted February 12, 2006 it was the mains, dropped it to a 320, needle on middle clip, I never rode a banshee full throttle. They are no joke . I got the quad about a month ago. Im a banshee man for life now . Thank you everyone who replied for helping me figure this out. Quote
Banchetta Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Try disconnecting the tors, little black box above the left exhaust...3 wire plug. Unplug it. Next, follow the wire going from the clutch lever towards the gas tank. You'll find another plug, Disconnect it...this is just a stock safety setup on the shee. You don't need it, and it does fail and cause scenerios like the one you have. If this doesn't clear it up, then go down 2 sizes on the mains... Quote
