bakestrumz92 Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 ok guys i need help. My banshee has been sitting awhile because i had some suspension problems. I just got them ironed out and i took it out around the house. I rode it maybe 10 minutes and when i came back i noticed there was coolant on my left boot, and after i turned it off i heard boiling sound. I waited for it to cool and i checked the coolant in the radiator, it was a little low but it didnt take much to fill it. I started it up with the cap off and when i rev it up i can see the coolant flowing so i think the water pump is working. One of the last times i actually rode it, it got hot on me in the woods but i just figured it was because we were barley moving on some narly trails. Anyone have any ideas what i can check? I just got a new top end and i dont want to burn it up. All help is appreciated Quote
BigRed350x Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Do a search next time. If it is overheating you have something wrong with jetting most likely. Probably a lean condition. Check for air leaks around all your intake boots and check your gaskets. Do a search for how to check that kinda stuff. Quote
thegroup Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 r u still running the stock pump or a billet? Quote
Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 run 409 glass cleaner thru radiator its better then engine ice trust me Quote
bakestrumz92 Posted February 6, 2006 Author Report Posted February 6, 2006 Iam pretty sure that its still the stock impeller. Not completly sure, because it is a used bike. Quote
knight_ripper Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 I had similar problem awhile ago. It wouldnt leak sitting idleing but when I took off, I ended up with coolant on my ride, and my boot. Id shut her off to hear her overheating...boiling in there. Problem was the O-Ring on the water pump. Ya know the one thats on the outside of it that seals when you put the cover on. The little o-ring that sits on that part that sticks thru. Im not really explaining it well, cuz its been awhile since Ive taked her apart. PM me if you have any questions. Anyway, replaced that o-ring and my problems were solved. Quote

odaen Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 might have a bad head gasket, allowing cylinder pressures to leak into the cooling system, overflowing the radiator. Quote

All help is appreciated 469372 when you filled it up, did you leave the little hose off the head untill antifreeze came out? if you have an air pocket, that could stop the coolant flow through the cylinders but still see coolant moving in the radiator. now that you remove the cap and filled it back up, you my have gotten all the air out. take it for another ride and see. other wise check for blocked rad,bad impleller, or improper jetting.
