fastashell Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 hey everyone. I was out rideing yesterday with some friends. they all have 4x4 quads except me, I have a banshee. anyways i was going through a large puddle and I got stuck. the water didnt go into the silencers, or the airbox, but it reached were the seat starts. I was stuck there for about 60 seconds motor running. im worried water may have entered the engine. maybe right were the exaust ports are on the engine. its right were your pipes mount into your engine. the two exaust holes, or maybe some were else thats doesnt have a very good seal. has this happened to anyone else? do i need to be worried, what should i do? thanks Quote
Wallrat Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 It'd be a good idea to pull the carbs and clean em. Change the oil, look for water while its draining. Pull off the stator cover (left side of engine) since those things aren't the most watertight and you don't want your flywheel rusting. Clean the air filter. Add some new oil. Hit all the zerks on the suspension with some grease. Alot of this stuff you should be doing after every ride in watery/muddy conditions. Quote
sheefreak Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 (edited) Was your motor running the whole time you were submerged. If so then nothhing is getting in the exhaust. It would have stalled if water would have gotten in the intake. And remember, most places 4X4's love to go, a banshee probably has no business being there. Good luck. fastashell Posted February 5, 2006 Author Report Posted February 5, 2006 ya the motor was running the hole time while submerged and remained running for about another hur and half after, (the ride back to the truck) thanks everyone who has helped me so far Quote
sheefreak Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 You should probably be alright. I would go through Wallrats checklist of things, as all those things are easy, preventive steps to a real pain in the ass. Quote
crazywheelerman365 Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 You can also fill the crank case up with kerosene ! Its oil based so It wont @#$% anything up , put it on a jack or somethin and start it and run it threw the gears and back down to 1st , shut it of and drain . Add oil , run it around the yard a couple times and dump the oil again and refill . Should be good to go . Its like giving your crank case a good bath ! Quote

Cylinders get gas/oil mix and tranny gets fresh tranny fluid. Quote
banshee tuner Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 If it did not shut off you probably don't have a problem. Quote
