How about the throttle. What kind of jetting and fuel mixture should I run with a set of 28mm mikuni's, fmf fatty's, reed spacer, std. pro lites, and boysen reeds. My bike runs real good but it smokes alot and gets very poor fuel mileage. Please help with some advise. thanks Quote

fastbanshee8 Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Get a cable luber and lube the clutch cable. You can cut a few coils off of the carb springs, to lighten up the pull, but make sure they are the same length on both sides. Quote

MILO Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 how hard is the clutch pulling? mine was getting really stiff and was starting to slip. turns out the bearing and push lever going into the crankcase were shot and binding up. new seal and bearing, push lever assembly, and motion pro cable has it working pretty slick now. Bansheeduner02 Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 well what i have noticed is that 300 mains and stock pilot jets is the best way to go and run your bike 40:1 cuz it gets a little more power and revs quicker and less smoke. although you top end wont last as long but mine has lasted on 40:1 since 01 so yeah and it just blew last trip so it should be good for awhile depends if you ride like a grandma or not Quote

Second, need to be careful giving blanket jetting figures like that. Lke Suzuki asked, you don't know his elevation, temps, his air filter setup etc. all of which will affect his jetting. Third, I always run my oil premix at the manufacturer's (oil company not Yamaha) recommended ratio. I figure they have tested their oils to perform a specific way under a set of conditions. For instance, you would not run a full-synthetic at the same mix ratio as a 100% petroleum based oil. Not trying to rip you, but blanket responses don't work, as every situation is different. Now, Slow, depending on how old your cable is, you could probably try lubing them. Many people overlook this, and it can make a significant diff. in the life and ease of use of the cables. Banshees aren't known for being fuel misers (unlike many 4-strokes), and does your bike smoke only for the first few after warming up, or indefinitely. If it doesn't go away you could be too rich on the oil, too rich on jetting, or you could even have crank seals going bad. Quote

Please help with some advise. thanks 464976[/snapback] a easy pull clutch lever and a new cable.I run a single carb and it's easier than the duals. don't know where your at on the jetting now, I step mine up until it burbles then back off one onthe main. onthe pilot if i have a flat spot before the pipe i step up one, if it stumbles i back off one.. I run 32-1 your main sizes will be the same from a 26 to a 28 mm, mikuni's are all the same numbers, the limited dude is mistaken about that. goodluck Quote
