I got a stator with an ajustable backing plate and was set at +5 degrees. I was wondering if this might have caused it to lean out? Now i'm in the market for new jugs, pistons, and crank used in good condition let me know what ya got and if this may have caused it to prevent this from happening in the future.

No, it wouldn't cause it to melt down. You have a problem with jetting. Even if you got all new stuff, you would probably still have the same problem again unless you fix your jetting.
