thegroup Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 im going with everyone else and saying 18 is way too much, u may not fell it, but it is hurt that motor. my 250r is gear way too high(15/38 bought it this way) for the motor size. itll run 75 down hill, but doesnt have shit in 6th gear Quote

So starting out it's like your in 2nd or 3rd gear which is common anyway. WOT in 6th is gonna stain your pants. Just make sure everything is in perfect working order or you will be a stain on the road. Quote
Ls7colorado Posted January 19, 2006 Author Report Posted January 19, 2006 (edited) yes I have toped 6th out, well actually after I toped out in 5th I couldn't hear the engine anymore because the wind was so intense but it did still pull once I shifted to 6th and it deffinatly was rolling 90+ Im gonan order one of those speedomter thingys.. rebelbanshee2 Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 AWSOME!! now get a a honda style rear sprocket hub and get one of those 33T rear sprockets that go on in 2 pieces. Acording to this speed calculator HERE you will be able to go 130mph in 6th at 10,000rpm!!!! Id look into some bigger rear tires if you want some real speed. get some of those crazy 28" mud tires they make, dont worry about the weight it wont bog the engine. With a 28" tire on that setup you can go 180!!!! SICK!! This is the setup all the fastest Banshees have. Quote
Ls7colorado Posted January 19, 2006 Author Report Posted January 19, 2006 (edited) I duno, I think that would be pushing it. I bet the motor would croke right then and there, not mention the clutch! Has anyone else tried the 18T sproket? obviously not.... Im sure it would suck in trials and stuff but thats not were im riding. Edited January 20, 2006 by Ls7colorado Quote
Blue Duece Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 i ride trails with a 17, i dont hit fouth often but i can kill myself the way it pulls second and third, and my motor comes on from nothing not at 6K, then when i hit straights out here in the desert i can pull 85 and 90 mph just going through the rest of my gears, my bike with a 15 is violent with a -2 swinger it hooks great so when i pin it with a 15 i pretty much just wheelie through fourth, plus im shifting my ass off, i can ride faster with gearing that stretches, and the taller gearing tends to keep my shee from getting so squirly, plus if you got the ponies it pulls way harder....... I'd like to see the 6th gear wot run. Quote
dajogejr Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 I would like to see a start to 6th WOT too...no way a bone stock shee can pull a 18T front, unless you're going down hill with a 40MPH wind to your back... What good is 95MPH when it takes a mile plus to get there? Blue Duece...no doubt yours will pull it with porting, carbs, pipes, and your other mods. I'd still like to see a real video...not just rolling by off camera... Quote
Ls7colorado Posted January 20, 2006 Author Report Posted January 20, 2006 well the point is to be able to roll 50mph and not be revving 6000 rpm. I didnt do it for more performance, I am just proving that it will pull it. Quote
dajogejr Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 In that case, I'll buy that 100%. Now...throw some engine work into her...and it'll be a lot more fun to get up to 90+ MPH... Quote

What ever I can do with $1500 Edited January 21, 2006 by Ls7colorado Quote
dajogejr Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 I'd get a 4 mil stroker to help pull that gearing, it really gives you more torque...not HP. Good pipes, a good port job, cool head and see where that gets you. With Shearer pipes, you're going to need bigger carbs to get the most out of them. You're going to break that budget quickly. Although Shearer pipes are great, great pipes...they lack in low end more than just about any other pipe. T5s, Paul Turner Mids, FMF or ProCircuit would be a better choice... Shearer are pretty much strict drag pipes...and I think you'd hurt yourself until you had a better overall package. Don't forget a shaved flywheel and an adjustable timing plate...both very cheap and easy to do, well worth the reward... Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 ditch the big bore kit, it will hurt more then help, the transfer ports get cut way down with the big bore, the transfers are the main power maker. port the stock cylinders, cpi pipes, and bigger carbs, or a 350 cub, cpis and bigger carbs. cpi pipes come on alittle sooner in the mid range but will not rev as high as the shearers. me personaly I love my shearers and would not trade them for anything. oh and alot of the 1/4 mile bikes on planet sand run 18/38ish gearing in the 1/4 mile so I would not say it has not been done. most of them are goin mid 90's at the big end. Turbobanshee_kid Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 I vote fror a 6th gear vid!!!!!!!!! Quote
