twincylinder Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 (edited) Ok so i went riding today and the bike was running great then i started to notice s small power loss in the 5 and 6 gear range and then it started to get worse throughout the day..When i shift to 5th gear its like i let off the throttle or something is slipping , the motor sounds fine and is reved up high but the bike just stops pulling at 5th..i also notcied on pavement in first and second gear the front of the bike wouldnt come up, it usually does. So is somthing is my transmission slipping , maybe the clutch or is it a motor problem.. i did notice though that it was smoking alot out of the right pipe and barley any out of the left even at a high rpm , it usually has even smoke on both sides.i know the bieks not lean because i did a plug chop yesterday and the plugs were good..so does anyone know what the problem might be?? twincylinder Posted January 4, 2006 Author Report Posted January 4, 2006 any one have an input...is it maybe the clutch...is there a internal adjustment for the clutch Quote
mouse Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 it sounds like your clutch is going check the oil and does it smell like its burnt then its the clutch Quote
Lightninn Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Sounds like your clutch is definately slipping. New steel plates, fiber plates, and springs will cure your problem. You're going to need a new right side cover gasket as well. Has the clutch gotten out of adjustment? Is there some play at the clutch lever? Have you verified that the clutch arm is pointing to the mark on the top engine case located under your left carb? If either of those items are out of adjustment, then that's the most likely reason for you clutch to go bad in the first place. Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 sounds like the clutch to me also.while your in there i'd get a modded shift star from boonman. awesome mod $40. Quote
