fernando427 Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 (edited) Has anyone here ever delt with wicked atv out in socal? www.wickedatv.com I was wondering what kind of work they do? I was thinking about sending my bike there to get it ported . They said i could take my bike in they would port it put a 4mm go through the motor and have the whole bike back to me in about 3 weeks for 2200 bucks.he said he would port it for torque since im about 210lbs. he said it would use the stock carbs.WHat do you guys think? Im also thinking about nate mccoy or jeff at fast. i still got to call jeff and discuss my motor with him. but wicked is so close to me. what do you guys think? blueshee03 Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 (edited) i have never dealt with them ,but i have seen a couple wicked bikes run and wicked does do some bad ass work.they know they're shit when it comes to builing a motor.passionre on here is agreat guy to talk to and deal with also .another builder you might talk to out there is rudy kurtz at port magic he does super work also and is a great guy to talk to.these guys on here are probally a little cheaper but then you would have to remove motor from bike and either ship whole motor or tear it down yourself and ship the motor to them.2200 for wicked to take the bike in and do everything in 3 weeks aint a bad deal in my oppinion.it will probally be all jetted and tuned ready to ride when you get it back also.think it out carefully and don't jump into things. rocketboy Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 (edited) i would be cautious of a builder who wants ot do an agressive port utilizing a 4mill stroker setup and advising yo u to use the shitty stock carbs . wicked has been known to make fast banshees however . call around and talk to some other builders before any money is spent ,id recommend jim at passion as another option to call and get ideas also Edited January 2, 2006 by rocketboy Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 2200 for 4mm crank and porting stock cylinders???!!!! i would def go another route. i would go with cubs before id spend that amount of money on stock stuff..for 2200 bucks and doing your own work you can get the following.. cubs--950 or so crank--500 or so 33 or 35mm carbs--350 roughly.. thats still less than 2200..im not exactly sure what ur gettin for 2200 bucks...id call around.. fernando427 Posted January 3, 2006 Author Report Posted January 3, 2006 This was the highest estimate i recieved but i dont mine paying extra to avoid headaches or problems afterwards I just wanted to know if anyone had ever seen there bikes run?Ive done so many searches on here for porting its just hard to make up my mind. i know you get what you pay for but i dont want to get ripped either. I also want to get the most for my money and spend more time riding than tuning or waiting for my motor to be done. Its just so hard to pick a porter. Quote

fernando427 Posted January 3, 2006 Author Report Posted January 3, 2006 i was told t-5 wont work with cubs too restrictive Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 well there are other builders who can do what u want for much less..drag porting generally runs around 500 to 600 bucks. a 4mm crank will run about 500 bucks. where is the extra 1000-1100 bucks going? takin the motor out and puttin it back in?? even at a shop rate of 50 or 60 bucks an hour you are still paying entirely too much. taking a motor out takes about 30 mins TOPS... i know of one builder who charges 100 bucks to put a motor together. so i guess i dont see where you are putting 1000 bucks of ur money. if you go elsewhere i can guarantee you will get MUCH more for your money. whether it be ssr, packard, a&s, fast, passion, redline, and so on you will get a lot more for 2200 bucks... and by the way, you can most def run t5s on cubs. sure you wont get the most potential out of the motor but its gonna run as good and in some cases better than most stock cylinder motors.. Rock-46 Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 Another guy you should call, and he is in So Cal. is Kevin over at Custom Creations. (909) 388-2887 He recently did a dune port setup for me, and it has ran great. Quote
Wallrat Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 I too am running a custom creations dune port on my stroker. Nice port job and a cool guy to deal with. Don't get me wrong, Ol' Roger over at Wicked is cool too. Either of them would build you a great engine that you'll be happy with. I paid $300 for my porting. Quote

You might be paying for convenience, but worse case scenario...what if they don't get it done in 3 weeks? Will they give you $1200 off your engine work? Quote
fernando427 Posted January 3, 2006 Author Report Posted January 3, 2006 What are you getting done joe? from who? if u dont mind my asking? Quote
