1sreamin350 Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 There is a 78 blazer for sale near me. That looks bad ass. For 6800 but he said he will take 6500. From what the guy has told me it's got 1000 miles on a rebuilt engine. 38 super swamper tires 80% tread body is straight paint is in good cond. no rust header pipes flow master mufflers 9 inch lift overall edelbrock intake and carb tow hitch w/electrical new carpet, new seats pwr windows alarm I am going to take it for a test drive later today to see if it's all that he says it is. He said he has to jump it because the last time he started it was two weeks. So I'm guessin their may be a short some where? Any tips or things to ask would be great guys. Thanks. Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 How many miles total? If you're looking for one it probably wouldn't be that bad does seem a little high though, if you just need a vehicle you could get alot newer one in good condition for that price. Quote
Guest nightmare Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 Look up under the rear wheel wells. You can see where the floor comes to a point(that is where the rear seat belt mounts to the floor). That is where they all start to rust at. Then crawl under it and reach up on top of the frame rails or cross members that will tell you if he has had it offroad there will still be mud up there I don't care how many times he washed it. When you drive it make sure the front end is tight and it doesn't pull real hard when you get on the brakes. If the front end is loose stay away from it. Look at the frame where the stearing box mounts they crack there alot too. Hope this helps you out some. Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 I have a 1975 Blazer and a 1985 Chevy K-10 and ive always found that mud hides in the seep holes under the wheel wells, right under the lip... This is how rust starts on these years of trucks... I picked up a 75 Blazer about two years ago.. been restoring it since... had mkinor rust but always was on wheel wells and bottom of the doors. I dont know if you have a short or not, but if hes asking that much it should have a new battery in it.. But sounds like a good buy if the rust is minimal.. bought my 75 with little rust, 70k miles on it, arizona truck for its whole life, and went to the dunes for most of its life.. got it for $4500 Goodluck, Eric Quote
ogre03 Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 I'm kinda with P.T.T. here. How many miles on the truck it's self? You have to remember the engine may have 1,000 miles (according to him) but if the guage reads 200,000 than your tranny, axles, and everything else has got quite a few miles on them. Especially if he's been pulling big tires around for long. For that price you need to really think about what you are getting. Just my .02 Quote
2strokesmoke Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 make sure the transfercase is working and not making a wineing sound put it in 4 high in the grass or some where loose to see if all the tires are turning they will alternate in the front good luck Quote

cb67rs1 Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 i would look at the VIN# if the 10th didgit isnt a 5 or 6 i wouldnt buy it! Quote
dawarriorman Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 If you spend 6 grand on a vehicle thats 27 years old, then pass me whatever you're smoking on. Unless the thing has been restored ground up, then pass, its too old. Its got rust somewhere, you might not find it, but I'll bet its there. And like someone else said, it doesn't matter if the engine is rebuilt, everything else is 27 years old and has a shitload of miles on it. If you want something for off road, keep looking. Quote
rzcolobanshee Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 Doesn't sound like a bad deal to me with everything it has, I would offer him 5500 and would probably buy it for 6000. I've got a 84 K5 and a 86 K10, I would never buy one again but they're fun for offroading Quote
