2twin350s Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 my brother got his bike out a week ago fired it up and just let it idle.he put it back in the shed. yesterday he went to fire it up and the kicker will not move. so i told him to pull the plugs and see if it kicked thinking he filled the jugs with gas and locked it up. but no go.he said he left the gas off when he parked it.he did not even ride it it was fine when he put it away. now i know that they have a problem with the kicker idler gear coming off the shaft. do you think this is what happened to it. it is a low hour bike and i thought the cold had something to do with it.it has been like 20 degrees here for 3 weeks. i think the little c clip just got brittle and broke and let the idler gear fall off the countershaft. what do you guys think?the kicker will only move about a half inch and stops dead. locogato11283 Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 id pull the clutch cover and see whats up..sounds like something may have come offthe kickstart gear..that sure would be the easiest place to look first... Quote
Shee-Male Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 can you move the flywheel?, dose the engine still turn? Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 can you move the flywheel?, dose the engine still turn? 447489[/snapback] hmm good point. if it does, then its def something to do with the kickstarter gear...if not then you may have broke something in the cylinders.. this actually sounds familiar to what happened to my brother..stock 2004 pistons broke apart in the motor and locked it up..didnt damage anything but it wouldnt turn over and the kicker wouldnt turn it over... scotts96fast Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 My buddy had the same problem on the trails. We thought we were screwed until we push started it.First try it fired up ran great and kicked over all weekend. He fired it up weeks later and something did not seem right. We pulled the clutch cover off and found the large gear on the basket was VERY loose. The screws holding the gear on the clutch basket were sheared off.One loose screw was holding it all together. To this day we don't know what the cause was and if the kicker problem was the start of it. BigRed350x Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 I'm with the guys above, try and turn it over via the flywheel first, if no go, then pull the clutch cover. Don't try and force it by push starting it, you might make everything worse. Quote
