batoutofshell Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 use the search button and punch in jetting Quote
Wallrat Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Click benbb's jetting faq in my signature Quote
Dmcbanshee Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Check your sparkplugs color a chocolate color are good, white color are jetting too poor... Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 My guess is that you are quite lean. You can see the mods in my signature and I am running 340's right now, when I ride the dunes at sea level. I don't have a lot of familiarity with the PC pipes, but I would throw a set of 300's in for starters and see how it responds to that. It may be fat, but shouldn't be so fat that it will foul the plugs fast. Do a WOT plug test and see what the plug looks like. I always say you are going for a medium chocolate milk color. If it looks dark, and or bogs at WOT, bump down, or vise versa. Good luck Quote
Banshee~ Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 I would get the dynojet jetkit and put in the needles and 340 main jets that they supplie in the kit. BTW you are very lean, dont ride it until you rejet it or you will blow your engine. Quote
sheecandy Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 drop in some 320 and give a shot Quote
Roza606 Posted November 28, 2005 Author Report Posted November 28, 2005 Thanks to all the replies i have no purchased 270,280 and 300 jets after i replace the jets should i need to adjust anything on the carbs? many thanks for the help although there are serveral hundred quad riders here in Qatar there doesnt seem to be anyone thst speaks enough english to help me, they are pushing me to stay on the 240-260 jet range thanks to all Quote
twincylinder Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Thanks to all the replies i have no purchased 270,280 and 300 jets after i replace the jets should i need to adjust anything on the carbs? many thanks for the help although there are serveral hundred quad riders here in Qatar there doesnt seem to be anyone thst speaks enough english to help me, they are pushing me to stay on the 240-260 jet range thanks to all 442369[/snapback] You are deffenlty lean...if you stay with 240s you will burn up your motor...i had 240's in mine with just a a k&n and when it got colder i had to go to 260 and it runs perfect..so you having pipes and k&n must be really lean...run it and do a plug chop... plugs dont lie Quote
Ducman Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 If you are running with K&N filter pods then you need to be at least a 300 main jet. Probably between 300 - 320. Quote
Wallrat Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 I agree. I'd start closer to 320 or 330 and then see where your are. Quote
Banchetta Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Doesn't hurt to try a 300 and go from there. My shee didn't like a 290 when I tried Pc pipes. Those pipes like a leaner main compared to other pipes. I ended up w/ a 270 main, go up 1 or 2 sizes on the pilot as well. It'll start a lot better and get better throttle response. Throw in some larger mains, run it in 6th gear wide open for 5-10 seconds, pull the clutch in, shut it down, coast to a stop, pull the plugs. Thats how you read the plugs. The strap should have a nice chocolate brown color on the tip turning to a black color at the bend. Let us know how you make out. Quote
Roza606 Posted December 3, 2005 Author Report Posted December 3, 2005 (edited) i have now added the 300 jets, it still does not seem right, i have power now in 5-6 but in the lower end when i climb a dune in 2nd its fading on me half way up the dune and im having to ping the clutch to get it moving, There is also a pretty strong smell of petrol when i stop. Would anyone recomend fitting a boost bottle my friend sent me one from UK but im not sure wether to fit it or not please any ideas what i need to do Thanks Edited December 3, 2005 by Roza606 Quote
Banchetta Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 ARe you letting off the throttle or backing off the throttle a little when its fading??? Or does this happen at full throttle? The boost bottle does nothing.. Quote
Roza606 Posted December 5, 2005 Author Report Posted December 5, 2005 yes it probably is fading as i let the throttle back a little, it does it worse when i have a passanger with me, maybe i will go for the dynajet kit to get the bigger pilots,, any one have onfo on the V-Force 3 ? my dealer here is trying hard for me to buy it but its a bit pricey for what it looks like..
