Lt500 or Raptor

I have a chance to get a new quad and i wanna know if i should get a zilla or a raptor?i know this is a shee forum and i have two shees and this is the only forum that im on that isnt bluetraxx so i figured this is the best website. Well i ride dunes and only dunes and i love the two stroke powerband but i like how 4 stroke sounds when they start but i dont know. please help lol

I have had both but havent had the Zilla for at least 8 years and im STILL paying for the repair bills! I had 2 of them and they can be made to run hard but have tons of problems! I have had no trouble with the Raptor and its cranked up pretty good. Pm me if you have any questions i will be glad to help you with them as i have been down that road.

I would say the zilla. I've seen a ported/piped zilla keep up with a 4mm banshee.

I'm with Jeff on this one, the Zilla's can be real fast, but carry a good set of tools with you. I got tired of bent shift forks and blown head gaskets. My old Zilla cranked out 70 HP at the wheels on a Dyno, but never ran long enough to enjoy it. That's why I bought a Shee, for its ease of mods and reliability to boot.

so your stuck deciding between shit and crap huh? i wouldnt get either ,both are heavy slow pigs that require alot of pissin around to extract decent power out of them only to blow up prematurely ,id get a nice used 250R and slap a 330 eddie sanders raceing topend on it if you want something else thats powerful

My dad had a Lt500R for a few years. They run like hell.....when they run.

It had the same problems the others posted head gasket and bent shift forks.

I am actually debating on gettin a raptor for tractoring around.

just put a CR 500 engine in a LT 500 frame, BAM, fast and reliable 500 quad. It couldnt be very hard to fit the engine in there.

the zilla will run very good but they blow to pieces not up not apart to pieces

I would go with the Raptor, i ve seen some with some nice pipes and it will for sure give you that thunder sound your looking for.

they also have alot of torque so go with the raptor.

i was real close to buyin a zilla , was gonna pick it up the next day ... but after i read everything and stepped back and looked at it , i decided not to buy .. stay with a yfz 450
