Toybreaker Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 Ok I am ready to make over my shee. It is ugly grey framed with white black and red factory plastics. I want to coat the frame to look similar to the 04 red yfz 450 with black front, rear, and tank plastics and a carbon radiator grille. What i need from you guys that live in socal are the info for local shops that are decent pricewise and not rude pricks. Quote
Indubitably Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 My group of friends and I have done a lot of business with Valley Powdercoating on old highway 8 in lakeside. We've always been happy with the outcome and turn around time is about 2 weeks usually. They aren't super helpful but always do good work. Last frame i did was in the summer of 2004. It cost me $200 bucks for a red powdercoat with silver flake. Quote
Toybreaker Posted November 15, 2005 Author Report Posted November 15, 2005 thanks for the heads up. Anyone else? I used to deal with Yakkey racing in Ramona but I can't get a hold of Rich anymore. The shop he used did work that was phenominal. Quote
99Banshee Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 I wanted to powdercoat my frame..The same color green but i wonted to put a little blue flake in it, Not a shit load but just enough to see it when the light hits right..maybe next year Quote
Bansh88 Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 I've used Powder1 tiwve now. First did a set of coils really nice. Good price. I just had a set of wheels done. REALLY thin. Darryl smith installed the tires and said it was the thinnist PC he had ever seen. Hope it holds up in the sand. ECP (East County Powdercoating) is very good I hear. Both companies are favorites in the Dune industry. I called Valley PC once, some arab guy who didn't know what an ATV was answered and was a retard. I hung up on them. Quote
Bigvincent Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 Just curious...what does powder coating a frame run$ compared to painting? Quote
99Banshee Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 all depends on what you get...you get what you pay for Quote
Indubitably Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 Yea they aren't very customer oriented but we have done a lot of business with them and they always do a good job. Your better off going in there and talking to them. A mexican guy owns the shop but i don't think he is there much. They use good quality powder though. For a regular color it shouldn't be more than about 170 bucks or so. Hope this helps. Pete Quote
Superman Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 I charge $125.00 to powder coat a banshee frame, it must be blasted. Let me know if I can help. Mitch Quote
sheecandy Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 my powder coated frame was $200. silver base candy apple red and clear coat from epoxycoat in baldwin park ca. Quote
sand4ever Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 (edited) To have my frame pc'd along with the four hubs and the disk brake hub and the sprocket hub was $300.00 in oregon. The lollipop blue is a two stage color process. In my opinion I would not paint the frame. Powdercoating lasts alot longer if it is done right. But painting it is easier to match colors to the plastic. That was my only problem with powdercoating.Just my two cents worth : Edited November 17, 2005 by sand4ever Quote
