warwgn Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 I am thinking of modifying my foot pegs by moving them down 1 1/2 inches and back 1 inch, since I am 6'5" I am hoping to get a smoother transition from sitting to standing. Has anyone else had luck with this type of mod? If so post some pics, as soon as I get this all done I will post up what and how I do it with pics and a ride report. I have alot going now so It might take a week or two. And I am going to double the width of the too. Quote
Bansh88 Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 I'm 6'5" as well. Rining while standing aint fun. Instead of modding the pegs, I'd go for a higher steering stem and/or riser for the bars. Messing with your pegs could result in bad mojo. Invest in some IMS pegs for super stability. Especially if you have a 6'5"ers foot like me. Quote
Wallrat Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 (edited) Or instead of spending lots of coin on IMS pegs, you could pick up another set of stock pegs for about $25 on ebay. Then you just cut the peg part off the mount and weld it right behind your current peg. As far as moving them around. I'd just look at making a new mount and welding the pegs to that. Shouldn't be that hard if you've got the skillz. Little dirty but here's what I mean: Edited November 10, 2005 by Wallrat Quote
warwgn Posted November 10, 2005 Author Report Posted November 10, 2005 I already have an extra set of pegs, and youre right I dont have alot of coin, but I do have access to a full machine shop with a CNC and plasma cuters and mig/tig welders. that looks about like what I have in mind Thanks for the pic. And I already machined a set of bar risers to clear my desert tank but that still aint enough for my orangatange arms . Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 movin them down and back 1.5" will put the peg right in the way of the bolts wont it?? of course, anything can be achieved with cutting and welding. Quote
Wallrat Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 I would try putting them on a new mount with new bolt holes just below the footpegs. You could go slightly lower and switch to allens or use a small wrench but that would be a PITA everytime you had to remove the bolts. Just watch how far you move from the shifter. Quote
Tim C Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 (edited) Raptor pegs will fit on and will be back about 1 1/2" - 2" but won't be any lower. I doubled up 2 sets of Rator pegs and welded them to a new backing plate so they are lower and further back LinK to Picture: http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...&cmd=si&img=473 Edited November 10, 2005 by Tim C Quote
warwgn Posted November 10, 2005 Author Report Posted November 10, 2005 (edited) Yep I already decided the eaisest way to do it was to start fresh. I found some 3/8" steel plate and I'm having them cut me a new bracket for each side 2.25" X 4.0". I can put the peg centered over the rear hole on each side and the bolt will go through the big oval opening in the peg after welding, should be easy to reach with a knuckle joint and a ratchet with a 2" extention. After all the measurements this will put the peg 1.5" lower and move it back .90" then I will add the second peg to the rear of each peg with a slight down angle to help grip my boots better in the whoops. Thats the plan as of now, but it could always change. Tim C, I realy like the kick up on the pegs, you did a great job. By the way I am doing all this to a Raptor not a Banshee. I need all the help I can get to keep up with you guys Edited November 10, 2005 by warwgn Quote
