banshee x Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 I have tried the o-rings that came with the pipes, fmf's,stock yamaha's,and cpi's they all have leakes and it makes a huge mess all over the bike ,my pants and boots.I have put several bikes together and never had this problem.Any tricks or o-rings that seem to work better.......Adam Quote
Justintoxicated Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 I heard that this is a pretty common problem with shearer pipes. Quote
race-a-holic Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 I bought a set of o-rings from F.A.S.T.Racing.I never tried them before I tore the bike down.Might need to give him a call. They just might work. Quote
wesw Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 do you have a spacer thing to space the head pipes away from the frame. mine has that and doesnt leak at all. might have to adjust your stuff Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I used yz125 o-rings I had laying around from my brothers 99, I also put a little copper seal on them and leak is gone. Quote
rocketboy Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 never had a problem with the black standard issue o rings Quote
banshee x Posted November 5, 2005 Author Report Posted November 5, 2005 I'll get with ya on monday Jeff!!!! Quote
sj820 Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 I used the o-rings that came with the cosmetic gasket kit I got when purchasing my Wiseco rebuild kit. When I put my Shearers on my bike I used these ones instead of the ones I got with the pipes. If I remember correctly they were a little thicker than the o-rings that came with the pipes. Quote
sandman121383 Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 i dunno what kinda o rings i got in mine. when i sent them back to get them rechromed i made sure he gave me a set cas i bought a set of FMF's but they wouln't work. i'd like ot kno so i can get a spare set sometime Quote
rocketboy Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 theyre just black o rings ... not the bronze colored ones you may get in some topend kits and about any mc/atv shop should stock them Quote
fabricated Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 shearer's are a good running pipe but they're built like sh*t. My cousing has a set and all of the rivots holding the silencers on have fallen out or aer loose. The head pipes have never fit right, either hitting on the cylinder or the frame. and what I mean by head pipes is not the left and right, but the two sets he's gone through. Quote
