speed_demon Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Ok, my banshee was running fine then I decided to convert from a twist throttle back to the stock thumb and put a jet kit on. I put it back together and it won't start. I replaced the plugs and I still wasn't getting any spark. I tested the coil and it was bad so I replaced it and now I'm getting spark but it still won't start and I don't know what else it could be. Maybe compression?? What do you guys think? thanks Quote
ellison445 Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Why did you jet to go from a twist throttle to a thumb?? speed_demon Posted November 1, 2005 Author Report Posted November 1, 2005 I didn't need to jet to convert, It was just something I wanted to do Quote
speed_demon Posted November 1, 2005 Author Report Posted November 1, 2005 make sure that your carb slide are not all the way closed. 432098[/snapback] how do I do that?? Quote
biggun6ss Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 Take out your air filter and look downinto your carbs. When you push on the throttle you should see two things moving up, those are the slides. You need to adjust them so that they close and open at the same time. If they are closed all the way it might have trouble starting. If they are open to far it will idle high. Quote

In fact, you would most likely hurt performance if it was done for no reason. In addition you could make the bike more prone to fouling plugs. When you swithched cables and rejetted did you make sure and reconnect the choke crossover tube? It runs between the left carb with the choke stat, and the right carb. If you forgot to reinstall this it will be very hard or near impossible to start. Sometimes it's the littlest things. Quote
sandman Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 Are your slides in backwards? I believe the cutaway portion on the bottom of the slide should be to the rear of the bike. Quote

They will fit in either carb, but the cutout should be to the filter side. So with that being said, they only go in one way properly. I hope that makes sense, I've been drinking. Quote
speed_demon Posted November 3, 2005 Author Report Posted November 3, 2005 Thanks a lot guys I figured it out Quote
