Cotton eyed Joe Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 In my state I have to take the quad to the DMV, get one of the fsuckin dipshits behind the counter to come out to my truck to inspect it for a VIN#. Then they ask if I could "just remove the powdercoat" and then I have to explain to them that I spent $150 on the powder, $50 to sand blast it prior to powder, and to remove it I'd have to have it burned off with a torch and re sand blasted which would set me back another $130 or so. After that they go back inside, issue me a vin tag, then I have to rivet it to the frame and go back for another VIN inspection. Also in my state, they were going to hit me $75 to register my bike with a new frame because it was from a 2000, so the value follows that. Then I mentioned I bought it on line, and the fee dropped to $5.00 Yeah...five fsuckin dollars because I bought it online. Quote
MonkeyBoy Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 I PC'd mine about five years ago, and I have never been asked to se the numbers. It may be a problem if I ever sell it, but hasn't been an issue yet. Quote

BigRed350x Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 If you are going to scrap your current bent frame, I would just take the numbers off that and samp them onto your new one. Quote
