I am looking to redo my new to me Shee this winter. As of right now I have the Bosen reeds, FMF fatty golds and Powercore silencers, Head milled .030" (supposedly, but I think so), and carb mount Uni filters. The quad has good power but I would like a smoother more grunty power. I ride trails 90% of the time and it isnt racing trails, were talking some rather rough stuff. Doing this I need a smooth powerband that has some gusto down low. Right now the STRONG pipe hit could be quite dangerous.

So I am thinking a good trail porting job, reed spacers, lightend flywheel for smoother faster rev up, 4 deg timing plate, cool head with mild domes to run premium, new pistons and rings, and maybe the 2 into 1 carb setup with a dial-a-jet kit. I ride mostly at 7000ft, but can go from 4000 to 10,000 ft on a single ride so ease of jetting is a real concern and needs to be something i can do in a decent amount of time, like 10 minutes or so.

I have went to the 13th front sprocket and think I will try a 12 and 11 as well. I am also going to get either a +2 sswingarm or the extender. This is for the hills we climb, the loss in cornering is of ZERO concern to me. Like I said these are not racing trails.

I do still want to be able to switch out the tires and go tear up the dunes too. For the dunes I am thinking of a boondocker NOS setup for when I really want to go fast.

So what do you guys think? I was thinking of contacting F.A.S.T. guy on here. Who else is good to deal with? I like having a few options. He who treats me with respect and listens to what i want and spend some time to help me figure out the best setup, I will work with and it will pay off for them to do so as I am the first person to say when someone treats me good and follows thru with it.

Sounds like a pretty good plane to me! :headbang:

Dont bother getting reed spacers unless you get bigger carbs. and need to clear the clutch linkage.

Ive heard the dial a jet doesnt do squat. Dont knoe for sure though.

And I would also seriously rethink the NOS idea. Nitrous gives awsome power, but only for a short time and it could also spell disaster for your engine.

Just My Two Cents

If 4000' is the minimum elevation you ride at, you could install some 19cc domes. Your bottom end power would increase a lot. If you went on a trip to a lower elevation you would need to increase the octane some.

Every time I put reed spacers in, I lost bottom end. As far as lightening your flying wheel for a smoother pull, a lightened flywheel would make your power band more erratic (it's that whole intertia thing). I live in Idaho and we ride from 3500 up. When my motor was more stock than it is now, I ran 18 domes (like everybody else here) and a Boondocker nitrous system on premium fuel without any trouble. As far as the nitrous kit, you are going to hear a lot of crap and people pooh-poohing it on this forum, but the Boondocker kit in this application is second to none. If you can jet your bike, you can dial in this nitrous kit. Boondocker is in my back yard, I put my first Boondocker kit on my Banshee 3 1/2 years ago. Since then, I now have one on my snowmobile, I have a kit for my street bike, and I have installed no less than 15 different kits on other people's snowmobiles and 4-wheelers/motorbikes (my wife just now found out that I have one for the street bike--now I'm in trouble and I'm holding you personally responsible, this is your fault). I have never lost a motor to a Boondocker kit, ever. I lost some to a NOS kit. So give them a call up there in Idaho Falls, do a little bit more research around here on the net, but for the sand dunes, there is nothing like the feeling of hitting that button. Just my opinion, from my experience.

I am very familiur with the Boondaocker setup. Quite a few of my friends run them on there DS's and YFZ's. That is the system I will run. I previously had a NOS setup on my DS and it ripped with no problems but I think with the twin cylinder, the boon would be easier by far. Besides that, Idaho Falls isnt all that far from me, being here in Evanston WY.

My buddy has a Shee and his flywheel is done and man I love the way that thing feels, very smooth powerband. His was done by K&T in Layton UT.

So what carb is the bomb when you go to a 2 into 1 carb setup? Like the idea of the lectrons powervalve.

So then maybe mix a few cans with 100 or 104 octane race gas 50/50 with premium and would be good to go?

That would be good. If you were at sea level and the timing was also at +4, I'd probably run 100 or above. Over 1500', 50/50

We ran some unscientific tests, mainly to check the 'even' cooling properties of the head. It ran 55 degrees cooler than an stock head on a hot day doing sand drags. I don't know any numbers on other brands of heads.
