stockridinshee Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 with a 20x11x10 tire fit a 10x8 rim? if not what do i need also what is a better rim itp t-9 pro series or douglas .190? thanks for all help quit responds greatly app. Quote
ssanddemon Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 (edited) Nope, won't fit. The 20 is height, 11 width and 10 is rim diameter. You have a rim that is 8" diameter. Both 8s and 10s are the most common size in the aftermarket, so you should be able to find some 20-10-8s for your bike no problem. Edit: The t-9 and Doug .190 are comparable rims. The t-9 has cutouts at the wheel center, so has a bit more of a 'fancy' look. Edited September 8, 2005 by ssanddemon Quote

If it were 10 dia and 8" wide why would you mount an 11" wide tire on that rim anyway? Quote

If it is only an 8" diameter rim then it will not. As far why would you want to... I run 22-11-10 Turf Tamers on a 10x8 rim and they work great. If you put them on a 10x10 rim the rim edge sticks out so if you hit a rock or something it hits the rim, which not only looks like shit, it could bend the edge and cause a leak. On an 8" wide rim the edge of the rim is set in a little bit so rocks and things bounce off the tire and doesn't beat up the rim as much. Of course doing that you have more of a chance of cutting the sidewall of the tire. So it's kinda six of one half dozen of the other. But Ive been running Turf Tamers which I believe are only a 2 ply tire for three years... the tread is done so they ready to replace... but I have never had a leak since they were installed. I have friends who are bending rims all the time but I never have. Quote

Just seems to me that an 11" wide tire is a little too wide for an 8" rim, that's all if it works and you like it then great. I run tamers too, I've got 22-11-8's, 20-10-9's and 18-11-8's that I switch depending on where I ride. How do you like the 10" diameter rims? Seems like they'd work well on a 22 but that's alot of rim for anything smaller. Quote
