clutch basket rivits

i need to get the rivits that hold on the gear to the clutch basket. does anyone know where to get them or just from the dealer, also how hard is it to reinstall the gear? i am putting a good gear onto a good basket because my basket is broke and the donor has a broken gear,or is there someone with a basket they are not using and want to get rid of it, let me know

Most people opt for the aftermarket billet basket and it comes with allen head bolts! Pm me if you need more info..

call jeff @ fast racing 1-785-364-5325...he sells an aftermarket basket that will bolt on instead of rivet. its a good basket for a lot cheaper than most. call him up...

You can drill and tap the basket and run the screws from the back.The screws will need to have tapered heads,and you will have to countersink them a little bit into the back rataining plate.Not much clearance in the back,when the basket is installed so be carefull.Don't forget locktite and I also take a punch to the last thread on the screw to keep it from backing out.I have rebuilt a few baskets with no problems yet.I have also heard that you can buy the same size rivets at a John Deere dealership.I would say that it is better put it back with screws so you can easily change the cushions when they wear out.

what kind of screw do you mean? and how do you countersink them? could you send me some pics if you have?

You can use an allen head or flat head screw,I used a tapered grinding bit to make the countersink holes in the back plate.The screws I used are 3/4" long.Once you drill the ribits out you will see how they were countersank into the clutch basket.You do the same type of countersink holes in the backplate.Don't let the thinness of the backplate fool you that metal is as tough as hell to drill or grind

Nothing to lose? Be carefull, if it comes apart you'll lose the cases, basket ect...... I'd pony up for the billet basket. IMHO.

i wouldnt risk tearin it all up because you dont wanna spend 150 or so for a basket..not worth it to me anyway...
