has anyone had problems with the top little nipple of the spark plug spinning off? i am having this problem on both plugs and what happens is it starts running bad.. then eventually the nipple comes off the plug and the connection is lost between the wires and plug not to mention i have to try and rethread the nipple to get it out of the plug boot!!! grrr can i use lock tight on this? im worried that if them just getting lose effects my firing putting some lock tight on the threads is going to do the same thing

dont use locktite. it will break the electrical connection. what i do is,put the plugs in the bike tight. then i use a pair of pliers to tighten the nipples down. i run plugs for 6 months and they never come loose on me that way.or you can get boots that make you remove the nipples and the contact the threads underneath. ngk makes them, however, they end up loosing the tension in them and have to be replaced about once a year. my first suggestion would be the best route to take.

NGK makes plugs with solid tops that aren't thread on. Look at the end of the box when you go to buy plugs next time, or ask for solid tip

Where are you buying your spark plugs from? I hear there are some that aren't actually NGK, just knockoffs. I read it on another forum I think and it said the things you watch out for and stuff. I hear if you buy them from Wal Mart or something they aren't real.

i'm having problems with one of my spark plugs, one spark plug is fouled (at least i think it is) and the other side is fine causing it to run on one cylinder but it might be what you all are talking about because the one that is fouled has a tip that keeps loosing but does not spin off all the way while the other looks solid on tight. the one that keeps coming loose, the tip is not solid on top you can see the threads in side of it. is this causing it to jump spark and not fire correctly? there both the same plugs nkg BR8EG

2twin350s plier trick works fine for me, but I don't tighten it in the head I use the plug wrench to hold the plug, just to make sure I don't over tighten it in the head..

Have you guys noticed that there are 2 different colors of ngk's. I have seen gold and a blueish silver... The silver seem to last longer :huh:

there's always the microwave trick... ;)

It really is as simple as taking a pair of pliers and giving the "nipples" an easy snug. If you don't get the Vise Grips out, you shouldn't be able to overtighten the spark plugs with them installed in the head. Even with Vise Grips, I would bet on the threads on the nipple or plug giving out before I would worry about overtightening in the head. Just get the pliers and set aside about 10 seconds a plug and you should be set.
