hey guys. well i drained my oil last night because of the clutch problems I have been having. when i felt around in the oil there were metal shavings and one plastic piece that was white. do you guys have any clue what this could of came from? I am going to take it to my mechanic here soon and get him to fix it cause i dont want to wreck something else by doing it myself. Let me know what you guys think and how much it would cost to fix if it was that. Thanks

White plastic could be your water pump gear I just changed mine, same thing happened. no biggy!

I would say you have gears. possible shiftforks all messed up in the bottom end, tearing up your waterpump and stuff, it will get to all the vitals in your bottom end clutch, whatever..(I would not recommend running it anymore) that stuff will float around in the oil as your motor is running and screw it all up. you are going to have to take it apart to determine the damage.Buy a clymers manuel and do it yourself if you can.The stealership will gouge you big time for labor. sorry I can't determine unless its opened up to see!!

I would take it to him then I would not ride it you will mess it up more.Clutches are easy though

send your motor to me i only charge 20 an hour and no parts mark up. i have built many banshees. i own 2 and have had 4 and i turn wrenches for a living. i can fix that for150 bucks plus parts. you will probably need some gears in your tranny. each gear costs about 70 bucks a piece.if you dont want to send to me fine. pull the motor yourself. that will save you about 150 in his time and take the engine to him and set it on the bench. most guys charge 275 to split cases and do tranny work. check my website. i am an honest businees man and i take pay pal.

www.cosmicquads.com. my contact info is in there under the order page.

You really need to learn to do it yourself. It's not near as hard as you think. You should be able to replace the waterpump gear in about 15 minutes.

i agree he needs to do it himself. a clymer manual will walk you thru it. but he also said that the bansh shifts 1st to 3rd gear, so that is a little more involed than doin a waterpump. his cases need to be split to fix the shifting problem.if ya dont want to send it to me that is cool just thought i would offer, but pull the engine yourself if you want to take it somewhere else, and save some money.

brought er in today and if my mechanic thinks he knows what it is then it will cost around 2 grand. If it does cost that much im not going to get it fixed and find a place for it to be stored and keep it there until i have enough cash for it and then during the winter all my paychecks up until dec will go to a down payemnt for a yfz and then in dec I will get it on the payment plan.

2 grand? that is insane. i can build the hell out of that motor with all kinds of aftermarket stuff for that money. like i said before, i can fix that for a fraction of that cost. you can get a brand new engine from east coast atv for 2 grand. save your money and ship it to me. i might be able to get it fixed for 4 or 5 hundred bucks may be less. it will cost you about 50 bucks each way for shipping. but i can assure you it would not be anywhere close to 2000 dollars.either way, find another quote from another mechanic, please. check around on prices
